Ludlow Suit Review: Italian Wool Pinstripe

This is my first suit review of my winter-weight Italian Wool navy pinstripe, purchased from J Crew in the winter of 2015. The recording was impromptu, so the video quality is a bit lacking! But at least I got most of my thoughts out on suit collecting, evolution, and timelessness of the Ludlow suit.

Is that a flannel? Do you have anymore winter weight/style suits? I’d love to see a review. I’m looking at a charcoal flannel suit but I also can’t find any reviews. I want a nappy texture and I can’t tell from the photos. I also made multiple mistakes with Mens Wearhouse!

Spot on about Men’s Wearhouse. They are horrible. I only go there for accessories. One time a few years ago the salesperson told me “this is one of our top sellers” when he was referring to the dress shirts I picked out and was shocked when I returned one of them since the material was too itchy. I also returned a custom suit from men’s wearhouse and flat out told them no when I was asked if I wanted to look at more suits. Got a full refund. Really, man. You’re telling me all your shirts are your “best sellers?” Yeah, they’re just horrible. But good suit review. J.Crew is going to be one of my off the rack go to suits since their classic fit pants fit me well (have big calf’s and it their classic looks good on me between a slim and straight leg fit so it’s good for me, and they recently started going to with slim and wider lapels. I just have no patience with made to measure. I’m 2 for 2 in being disappointed with made to measure suits. They get my shirts right at least the made to measure company I use. I only get dress shirts for suits that I’ll wear with a tie made to measure, but suits no. Too frustrating and too much back and fourth. With J.Crew it’s just hemming the pants and tapering the waist of the jacket and I’m done and ready to go. Possibly tapering the sleeves too if I try a classic fit jacket.

Thank you! I could not find a review! The suit looks great 👍🏻. Did you need any tailoring done?

Dude, yes: Styleforum turns its nose up at the Ludlow, but I’m a huge fan. I got a charcoal worsted Ludlow recently and I feel like Don Draper in that thing. You look great in that suit. Perfect fit.

Nice suit. It fits you well. The color/texture of your tie and pocket square compliments as well. It seems that your shirt collar points are starting to curl? Perhaps your dry cleaner can straighten them out. But over all you are rocking the look👍
