The investors that created Down Town Punta Cana is a partnership between Dominicans and Venezuelans. That is why next to Juan Pablo Duarte's bust is another one for Simón Bolívar. DTPC still has much room to grow. That particular place gets more active in the afternoon and evenings, and that was during normal pre-pandemic times. Also part of the DTPC complex is the Downtown Mall with Jumbo as its main store and seversl other shops. I also think the Sunix gas station and another building by the road between the gas station and DTMall also belongs to the complex. Banco Santa Cruz has a branch in that building and some other businesses.

Is this a separate area for tourists only or is conjoined with local spots as well? I was wondering if theres a spot that sells traditional Dominican dishes too

I can not believe it is the downtown of famous punta cana. The downtown is almost non existent.

These foreign investments is what’s making the country grow, punta cana had much more desolate dirt roads and empty lots, now many developments going up. I get flooded with ads for condo complexes in punta cana. Wish Dominicans would invest more instead of foreigners, but at least the country progresses some.
