For anyone who owns a digital keyboard (I have an ES920), I tried the OneOdio A71, ATH-M20x and M40x). I wanted to spend the minimum for headphones and the winner is the M40x. They provided the most natural sound, similar the onboard speakers. The other 2 sets had decent mids and highs but the low keys sounded too artificial and a little punchy. Thanks for the review and good luck to everyone

Have used M50x for about 5-6 yrs now. Yup, same ones all that time. I only just needed to replace the ear pads today. Not only do they sound great, but they also last a LONG time! So glad I got them instead of the other ones I was looking at.

I like that the ATH-M40x swivels and I love the fact that you can detach the cable and that it includes the coiled one. I have a set of SteelSeries that swivel that way and believe it or not, it makes it easier to put on or take off even with one hand. Also makes it easier to hang flush to my wall. Of course my SteelSeries are much more light and comfortable, but I use those for everyday use on my laptop. They also have the removeable cable and this is awesome because you can use any cable you want (any type, any length). I currently am using a coiled "griffin" cable I had around and it has worked awesome cause i don't have cables on the floor or on my lap. I own a pair ATH-M20x ( I use these for recording and editing my voice overs) and although the long (attached) cable may come in handy at some point, I usually work at my desk recording voice overs and the cable just dangles on the floor or I have to wind it up and hang it from a pushpin on the wall. I have at times (and by that I mean all the time) run over the cable with my chair and I have to say that it has held up fine over the years. The other thing I don't like about the cable, however, is that it has become hard and brittle near the headphones gradually getting worse over time (about 2 feet now). This makes storing them harder and it's just annoying. Also the cushions are starting to crack, but that I did expect of course. They sound great though. I will attempt to replace the cable at some point and of course the cushions should be relatively easy to replace if need be. I have a couple of older pairs of AT headphones from the early 2000s. They were about $70 ea and also sound amazing, but the cables started to fail. I need to replace those cables or connectors eventually. I've been looking to replace my ATH-M20x for a couple of years now and I am leaning towards the ATH-M40x just because of the swivel action, and the detachable cable option and the fact that it comes with 2 and one is coiled, perfect for using at my desk. PS Also the ATH-M20x are starting to crack (the plastic) where the metal headband meets the plastic on headphones.

came here wanting to switch from m20x to m50x, and i will say this about the m20's. For the price, they are phenomanal. I have used this pair for about 3 years now, and they held up good until now. Eventually, one side's ear band seemed to have unattached itself and ive been spending about 6 months using electrical tape to hold it in place (im a frugal man). Drivers wise, they are amazing for the price. Feel as if the low-end feels a bit more aggressive compared to my studio monitors, as well as the high end being a bit harsh at times.

If you're a beginner on a budget, start with the m20x, and if you like them, upgrade in the future, like i am

I had the M40X for a year, it snapped at the swivelling hinge and I got a warranty return. I then got a pair of beyerdynamics which I decided were uncomfortable and didn't sound good enough to justify it. I then went with the m50x which is the best choice of the lot and haven't regretted it. they're more comfortable, have better build quality and sound similar to the m40x if not a little clearer. Not having them both at the same time means I haven't done a side-by-side comparison but I don't miss my m40x

This vid is very helpful. I was trying to decide if the m40x is as good as the m50x. When there were little differences, I just bought the m40x. Thanks for making my decision easier!!

I just got m20x today and I didn’t expect to be this good for it’s price. I bought because it’s on sale at less than 30 usd in my country.

i had the m40xs for a year now, they are one of my first monitor headphones that i owned, and they get better over time. also becareful with these headphone, i hear they are known to snap from rotating them around alot, mine havent for a year of use, but other than that the sound quality is amazing.

M40X was fine for everything I wanted to do as I knew the
sound of them. I added the M50X when I needed lower frequency
information. Again, if you ‘know’ your room / headphones, anything
will do. Advanced visual scanning and comparison tech can be used
if you are really paranoid about the mix! Enjoy! 🎧

My man u are so underrated! Your videos just cover up all the necessary pointers needed to be known by users. Just 1 single tip, instead of naming the last part Outro, name it 'Final Thoughts' or 'So which is the best?' This way we can easily know that which is perfect for us and etc ( u know what i mean bro✌️😁).

Subbed btw man cant wait for more future videos! Hope your prosper more!

Finally!! I've been deciding what to buy. I think m40x is the best. I haven't watched the video, but i hope my impressions for m40x will remain the same. Been want the 40x since 20x and 30x got the wires on sides.

I have a pair of M40X that is still being delivered by a courier (because I just moved from Europe back to Asia and it could take up to 8-10 weeks to arrive here), and I'm considering an M20X as a backup in case the delivery takes longer than expected...
