Great video as always. Oh, and the MDR 7506 actually HAVE changed the packaging. They come in a white box. If anyone goes to Guitar Center (my job, lol) ask for the new box if you want. We’re still putting the old ones out first until they’re gone 😂

Doing the lord's work, thank you so much! I'm headed into freelance voiceover work soon and looking to upgrade from my current open back studio headphones to a closed back pair for monitoring and editing. The 280s are currently my frontrunner but I feel like this opened up a few other doors for me as well!

I've been using Sony MDR-7506 headphones for years and years -- I own three pair (but can only find two for some reason). They seem to be a studio standard in these parts, too -- almost every control room I walk into in the area seem to have them. Build quality and sound seem to be really consistent over the decades. And, they're fairly comfortable -- I can use them for hours and hours on end without fatigue. I have had to replace the ear cups, but they lasted about 10 years before having to do it.

I owned the Shure 440s for a few years, until they got smashed by a rogue personal sound mixer on stage, and now I own the HD280 Pros. Both are great options! To me, the 280s have a little more warmth, and as mentioned are INCREDIBLE for sound isolation. I do miss my 440s though. I loved how balanced everything felt within them- as someone who plays three instruments that was really special for me!
Thanks for all your hard work - you're great!

Been using same pair of Audio Technica ATH-M30 for 15 years and super happy with it 😊

Samson SR850...seriously underrated. I noted they don't make a lot of lists, but great value for money.

I have the old srh440 and they are absolutely amazing for the price, from a sound pov. The build quality is just ok-ish though but that is expectable at this price point. I'm so curious now to test the new model to see what they improved.

I have had the AKG K52 headphones for almost 3 years now and have been blown away. The sound quality is excellent with a wide soundstage and flat frequency response and the build quality is decent. they are fairly lightweight but they are super durable. I recently got some Beyerdynamic DT 900 PRO X headphones and I can confidently say that the AKG's sound quality and comfort (although they do have a very different 'feel' on your head) are on par. Definitely recommend for $30.

I use a pair of the Sennheisers at church to mix the audio for the live stream during services. The tight seal and high isolation is crucial to filter out what's going on in the auditorium vs. what's going out over the stream.

Oh, and I found a pair of the Sony 7506 in the throwaway pile at work. $15 for new ear cushions from Amazon and they're good to go.

I normally use the Sony MDR V150 (the headphone everyone loves to hate) at home and at work, mostly BECAUSE of the low isolation. I like to be able to hear what's going on in the room around me.

The ones I really miss are a set of old Koss Pro4AA.

I went with the Shure SRH440A. Best price-performance ratio for my level of production/recording and listening. And I'm really loving the trial of SoundID. Such a revelation!

Hey Sanjay, you're right about the Sony earcups. I've had my MDR 7506s for a couple years and I like the portability, but the earcup outer layer has started to tear apart.

I use DT 770 Pro's at 250 ohms and they are the greatest thing put on my ears and sound amazing, they pick up everything. Im planning on getting an open back version as I need a second pair of studio headphones.
