Thyroid Cancer (also known as Thyroid Carcinoma) is a cancer of the thyroid gland (which is an endocrine gland located in the anterior portion of the neck). There are 4 main types of thyroid cancer, each having similar signs and symptoms with some exceptions. In this lesson, we discuss the signs and symptoms of thyroid cancer and why those signs and symptoms occur.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge of these cancers that are close to my heart. I had just turned 21 when I was diagnosed with both Papillary and Follicular Cancers. That was after 2 major surgeries, a modified radical neck dissection. Also got a trach AND also a nice case of caused all sorts of emergency bells and running residents. After body scans that uses to take all day, I did have metastatic areas all in my neck, my throat and throughout my chest. I had two massive doses of radioactive iodine. So far I have been negative for recurrence and that was all about 33 years ago! Oh, and I was an RN for years so I'm happy to share this with my friends and fellow medical people!

Doctor found nodules on both sides of my thyroid . One was large on the one side, the other smaller. Surgeon wanted to remove the large one and just watch the other. I said No and decided to have it totally removed. Taking a pill everyday is far better than the worrying

I just turned 70 yrs young. I’m known as a Downwinder from Hanford. There aren’t many of us left. There was a radioactive leak from the Hanford nuclear plant during the 1950’s. The radioactive material settled on pastures. The cows were out there eating the grass. As a baby I was fed the milk produced by the grazing cows. Since the thyroid picks up iodine, my thyroid tissue took it in. All of my teen years my doctor could feel a nodule. To treat this, and possibly make it shrink, I took levothyroxin which is a synthetic iodine hormone. Took it for many years. I had just turned 30 yrs old and was having my first child by emergency C-Section. As I was being entubated the anesthesiaologist felt the nodule and biopsied it. I woke up with my thyroid surgically removed. To kill the remaining thyroid tissue I took a capsule of radioactive iodine. I was RADIOACTIVE and put into a hospital room under quarantine since remaining radioactive iodine was expelled by the body through your perspiration and your urine. I was told that I couldn’t be in 6 ft of an infant! Hanford Nuclear Plant has NEVER admitted that they had the leak. For all of that torture, i was never compensated for all of the physical and mental I had to go through!!! That’s my story and I wanted to share it as I have a different cancer of which I’m under hospice care and will die very soon.

Thyroid problems fit well into my understanding of how the human body works. You see...I'm pursuing the reasoning that an arthritic sternum puts pressure on the menubrium which restricts the efficiency of the RATPLANT organs. So much so that lymph cannot reach beyond this level and it is vital that it should. It's early days yet but to overcome these problems we need a lot of endurance and mine came from prayer and searching for accuracy in the teaching of Jesus Christ.

I have a 3cm mass close to my thyroid. I don't have any of these symptoms. I'm scheduled to have an ultrasound in a couple of days. Hoping it's some kind of benign growth.

Now i m worried about it, and my neck is swelling even today's my neck is hurting and right side of neck I feel something tight ball but left side of neck is fine .

Do u know of any info on thyroblastoma ? I have this one my second bout of cancer. Only things I’ve found r 50/50 chance of dying from it, ittl probably return n cells form in embryonic development. I’ve had thyroid removed but they don’t have any info on follow up treatment. May b a new one I guess but new is iffy ??
