We all know by now the Importance of a Good Social Media Profile photo but when was the last time you had a good look at your profile picture?

Does it match the image you are trying to portray actually portray the image you think it does and how can you be sure?

In reality, different photos of the same person leave wildly different first impressions.
Research states that multiple photos of the same person leave impressions equally as varied as those of entirely different people.
There are pictures we think are our most flattering. Then there are pictures, which are our most flattering (according to strangers).
Unfortunately, they are not the same pictures.

That’s the conclusion of a scientific study published in Cognitive Research: Principles and Implications called, “Choosing face: The curse of self in profile image selection.”

According to the study’s conclusions, we do not see pictures of ourselves the same way strangers do. In addition, because of that, we’re vulnerable to pick bad ones.
