I love getting 37 minutes into these thinking “there’s no way it could get faster”

This game has held a close place in my heart the past 4 years and I am honored for salt to cover its history! I plan on continuing to improve my time and try for more WRs!

"So grandpa, what did you do in your twenties and thirties?"
"I spent 16 hours a day to grind for the world record in a 20 year old LEGO game"
"So you got the world record?"
"... No"

I love how Ginger was just so damn happy to be there lol Like he didn't get very close to the record, but the fact that he did so damn well compared to his previous runs was enough for him to freak out and get hype.

Want to say thanks to Salt for making this video for us, I can speak for the whole community when I say it's been a dream for us for a long time. The friends I have made along the way and the lessons I've learned have been nothing short of incredible and have meant the world to me. Hope you guys enjoyed!

As the world record holder in Lego Batman, I’m honored to even be mentioned in this video. It’s been a pleasure being in the community and I want to thank you so much for giving the Lego community the recognition it deserves!

The funniest part about the Ultra Kill glitch is that you kill the Emperor the exact way that he dies in canon.

Just... Push 'em.

That section of Zac narrating the run was special even by the high standards of your work. Not a runner and haven't even played Lego Star Wars, but the way you edited it and his obvious passion for the game gave me butterflies in my stomach. Would love to see more runners given the spotlight to narrate their own key moments in that way.

Normal summoning salt videos : "And that's how they saved 0.5 seconds"

This one : "So that's how 70 seconds were chopped off the time, and then next week another 50!"

Thank you so much to everyone in this community who made this possible. A special thank you to Evan (Eroadhouse) who has pushed this game with me further than we ever thought it could go. Hope you guys enjoy <3

UPDATE: Zac has pushed the record down to 2:22:52 about three months ago, where it stands uncontested. Good stuff Zac! :)

The story between WiiSuper and Scynor was truly a tale for the legends

Thanks for watching! This game is close to my heart and it is so cool seeing it get this level of recognition. Looking forward to seeing where the record goes in the future!

I love how, as we move to games with younger communities (meaning more thoroughly documented origins), the beginnings of these videos have gone from:

'There are no records of how <username> set this time, but its considered by top runners to be legitimate

to:

'<username>'s Speedrun strategy mainly revolved around running the game speedily...'

What I love about this history of world records is that each "chapter" that covers each Champion builds them up and makes them feel like actual world champions of a more physical sport and gives them this strange amount of gravitas. Love Salt's vids.

I love how in the Ultra Kill (20:27) you just do what the cutscene shows. This almost feels like an easter egg instead of an exploit.

I love how you were able to make me root for about 5 separate people throughout this video. That’s a sign of good writing.

I can never believe when the video ends. It always feels like there could be one more record
