Rural Living in Maine

✨We finally got that snow I've been wanting, mixed in with rain, which was disappointing...but at least we got something! Walking among the weighed down spruce branches is one of my absolute favorite things. The woods just feel SO cozy blanketed with snow.

The snow reinvigorated my love for this (is)landscape. I will admit, I became disillusioned with the challenges of rural life this past week, when my partner hurt his fingers. He didn't end up needing to go to the emergency room, thankfully, but we have been monitoring it closely for sepsis since it went quite deep. I'll share which wild medicinal I've been gathering to prevent infection.

I learned about this plant from the book Herbal Antibiotics by Stephen Harrod Buhner, which I can't recommend enough! According to Buhner, over 70 percent of all pathogenic bacteria in hospitals are at least minimally resistant (2012). It is a good idea to learn which herbs can be used to fight resistant infections, because bacteria don't become resistant to whole herbs (they are too complex in their multitude of compounds). Some doctors are even using herbs in conjunction with antibiotic therapy to increase effectiveness.

I hope this video reaches you feeling happy and healthy, and thanks so much for following me on my journey, it means the world to me ✨

It's so beautiful but isolating but at the same time I believe if nature is in your heart it calls to you or anyone that feels that way. I honestly don't like cities and I was born in an urban area and when I see nature it makes me long for it and be there actually. To experience it myself despite the hardships and challenges that may arise on day to day activities.

I wonder if she is still making that mead with juniper berries mixed in?

If I was moving from the South to Maine, what plants/etc would be most beneficial/harder to acquire up there? If you have any thoughts, thank you.

So you moved somewhere that you romanticized without being fully prepared for the actual practicalities. Got it.
