Tim Keller sermons via Gospel in Life: The rich young ruler in this passage had followed all the rules, but received an astonishing rebuttal from Jesus. Any encounter with the “real” Jesus shocks us. This young man’s religious assumptions failed him because he didn't understand the concept of “treasure in heaven,” and consequently, he was unable to recognize the true freedom and inheritance Jesus offers.

This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on March 19, 1995.

I must confess: as of late, I've listened to so much of Pastor Keller's teaching that I now always read C.S.Lewis in his voice. Can't wait to meet, and worship Jesus with both of them in His new garden.

To have been the son in a rich family has been an eye opener as I have walked the Christian life as a student in medicine and as a physician to be the” rich young ruler “as a giver of the gifts and out to give the riches I have been given in Christ. to others.

This msg cut thru me like a sword. I know he’s right but I’m not sure how I can stop struggling with God for my dreams.

Mark/Moshe 10:21 Then Yahshua BEHOLDING HIM LOVED HIM, and said to him, One thing you lack: go your way, sell whatsoever you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

To make a very long and extremely painful and traumatic story short, this was the word spoken over me, as young german jew; "You are the rich young ruler." I was well off and a nice boy, beautiful childhood, intensely adored my father and mother, but got "just a little" messed up during my teens...born again in my early twenties.

In the Aramaic the word 'gamel' often translated camel is a split word i.e. has two meanings, one meaning camel, the other meaning rope. Try as you like you are not getting a camel thru the eye of a needle, BUT a rope "broken down" and passed thru the eye of a needle, a strand at a time is very possible. BUT the likely hood of success when applied to a human being, near impossible, a fallen human being, IMPOSSIBLE. But like Yahshua said what's impossible for us is possible for Him. And with me He gave me the savvy, to go my way, sell whatever I had and give it to the poor, COME take up the/my cross and follow Him and did the impossible. Broke me down and passed me thru the eye of the needle a strand at a time. And reassembled me His Way, on the other side, Whew x Eternally 13:8...

... Yahushua the Messiah the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever....

ps. He didn't send me packing, He beheld me and loved me...I was sifted like wheat, however, BUT He prayed for me. Hallel Abba YHWH!! Hallel Yahshua!! Romans 11:15
