I didn't know about that 14-day period, thanks for letting us know! I am considering changing the name on Instagram and here on YouTube, but I am really worried about the broken links. Also, the name I ideally want is taken, so I guess I would have to buy it from another person if that person agrees... A bit complicated.

when you say name are you referring to profile or username? it would be helpful to see errors pointing to which name you were referring to or simply say profile name or username.

I don't like my Instagram name. But, if I were to change it, I wouldn't like the new one either.

Thank you!! I feel I need to make this change since I now have 2 YouTube accounts and their matching Instagrams, and both need the same name. However the Instagram that needs changing has 12k followers and theres around 100 videos in this YouTube that have the image on screen of the old name (which is my name, Tisha Klemetz, that honestly few people can spell right). Since one of my brands is integrative health and the other one is entrepreneurship, no single account should use my actual name... I am also going to change the websites accordingly. But I love the workaround of a second account. So the issue of potentially losing followers that are coming over from YouTube would only last for 14 days. I'll have to live with it. ;)

Nice one Jonny, loads of good points. I’m at the point 10k loads of mentions and wanting to remove the photos bit too. But I own the other name I want already so it’ll be a swap. effectively the same thing as your work around. But glad to see someone else thinking this way.

There are so many people giving advice on instagram, but yours is by far the most useful and just down to earth. It is actually applicable, even for small accounts. I do have a question, when switching to a professional account how important is what you choose and should you display it? I make handmade clothing and accessoires and don't know if I should go for Artist or Clothing, I've seen both on similar accounts
