Preparing PDF plans for needle cutting

My inkscape/estlcam workflow for preparing FliteTest (and other) PDF plans for cutting with a needle cutter on my MPCNC.

One thing I forgot to show since this plan didn't need it is is how I usually re-arrange parts to optimize space on the foam. But basically you just use the group/ungroup tools to make each piece into it's own group so you can drag them around and fit as many as possible on each sheet of foam.

I built a MPCNC last winter, but after struggling and failing to create useable GCode, put the project aside in hopes that someone might create a tutorial on the PDF to GCode toolchain. You did just what I was hoping for !

Going to dive back into this project and cut some foamboard.

Thanks for making this Jason. Another time saver I found is to copy the cut lines of duplicate parts in Estlcam and mirror/rotate as needed instead of tracing them all.

I think it would be better to do the score cuts before the through cuts, then the inside and outside last.

Hi Jason, I was able to follow and progress to saving the PDF to SVG and DXF formats. But when I downloaded Estlcam v11 I ran into a snag. The program is defaulted for engraving using a router bit. How do I find a tool layout for needle cutting?

What CNC controller board are you using with Estlcam? Also how do you calibrate the needle depth on the first set-up?
