Ichiro is who I think my RTTS character is when swinging at a pitch way out of the zone.

GOAT, he was playing a completely different game than anyone else.

Probably couldn’t intentionally walk him because he’d swing and get a double out of it

Ichiro was special. There’s nobody even remotely like him in the game today.

Vladimir Guerrero is another hitter that comes to mind, when it comes to players who hit pitches way out of the strike zone.

1:31 reminds me of Evan Gattis's HR against Trevor Bauer

Don't forget the two strike slider he fouled off after it bounced in front of the plate to stay alive before defeating team korea in that blood feud wbc

One of the best base hitters in the game. Question wasn't if but where he would hit the ball

My man was playing pool with big league pitching. Cue shots all over the place.

He tried and did hit the ball outside of strike zone because the umpires gonna call them strikes no matter how far from the zone.

That's why they won the World Series.

Ichiro & Vladimir Guerrero & Adrian Beltre were different bro. Best bad ball hitters ever

The plate coverage is amazing, but he probably shaved off some of his efficiency by chasing so many balls out of the zone. It's a bit like when Kobe Bryant would make some nearly-impossible shots that nobody else could seemingly make.

I feel blessed to have been able to watch him play. That bat he used played a big role, too. If I had a time machine I’d go back and hit with a twig. I had to buy an emergency bat one year and it was skinnier and lighter than my big barrel ego bats and I had a great season until it finally broke. You’re not putting the ball wherever you want or making controlled contact on bad balls with an end loaded, quick taper 2 3/4” bopper barrel.

Great collection! You missed that one highlight of him getting a hit after the ball hit the dirt. He literally short hopped it. Might have been a Japan League game but would've still made this highlight.

Manny Sanguillen was also a bad ball hitter. He would get hits on balls that most batters wouldn’t even take the bat off their shoulder.
