3 Ways To Get A Thick Resin Layer

Показать описание
Your artwork may require a thicker layer of resin if, for example, you're pouring into a mold, pouring over areas of high relief or embedding objects into resin. ArtResin epoxy resin was designed to be poured in thin layers as a surface coating and if you pour thicker than the recommended 1/8", the bubbles may not escape and you could end up with bubbles in your cured resin. So what do you do? To get thick resin coverage and avoid unwanted bubbles, there are a few approaches you can take:

• The Full Cure Method: layering after 24 hours
• The Partial Cure Method: layering after 3-5 hours
• The Waterbath Method: warming the resin to lower the viscosity

We're going to walk you through each method, what type of artwork they're suited for and tips to get you the best results.

ENJOY!

Thanks so much for your prompt reply...I really didn't expect anything until after the holidays. Since it is a gas flame it is very controlled and won't be sending out sparks and I think it is probably 6-12" away. Again, thank you (but enjoy the day off tomorrow. I can wait.😊)

This was so helpful. You have a nice way in your teaching style that’s easy to understand and listen to.
Question….
Can you use Art Resin to dome if you let it sit and thicken a little? That may be a dumb question. 😂
Thank you!

Hi
I wish to ask two questions..
Why is it so that that same batch of resin gets cured in one mould while it’s still tacky in other mould.
And secondly can we use the 2nd technique you taught today while pasting metal stickers between base coat and final coat??

Thank you so much for making this video, it helped me a lot but I want to know one thing as you said you can sand the painting after 24 hours and apply the 2nd coat, so this same method we can apply in 3-5 hours as well?

I am looking to glue glitter onto a panel using Art Resin. I chose art resin because I wanted a strong hold and for it to be archival. Do you think there would be any issues with waiting for the resin to thicken a bit and then sprinkle the glitter on top of it? Looking for a glitter on top look as opposed to the glitter being mixed throughout .

I would like to resined bricks to make a smooth hearth for a gas fireplace. The goal is to lay bricks and then fix in the mortar with resin as I layer it over the bricks. My question: is resin heat resistant or is it flammable? Is this a dangerous idea? I'm wondering if there is any substance that could be used to make the bricks smooth and easy to clean.

Question…I am doing a project with an image on paper that will cover the entire surface of my project. I have waterproofed the image with modpdge. Should I glue the image down on my surface before my first pour or pour a first layer, let it set 3-5 hours and then stick the image into the resin and then do a final pour? What will the next layer bond to if there is a waterproofed paper layer? I don’t want this to delaminate.

Would I be able to do a deeper pour if I use my pressure pot to remove the air bubbles?

Thanks this helps a lot, but for the warm water bath how long would a 2-gallon resin and hardener need to sit? Also with the 3-5 hour way, if using a mold will you end up seeing lines between the layers?

My black resin keeps curing greyish. I have enough dye in it and followed all instructions but it keeps doing it. How do I fix it?

Why would one coaster remain a bit tacky when año on the same batch is smooth to the touch. Even a couple of weeks later. Thx

If the resin is going to delaminate, how quickly will you see that happen?

I read somewhere that you can spray 99% alcohol on it instead of using heat to get rid of bubbles? Have you ever tried this/would you recommend?

Wait, in another video art resin says if you recoat after 24 hours you can pour straight on, I actually commented to clarify this and they said yes. And said you only need to sand it if it’s been longer than that.
