Dinklage: Casting actors with dwarfism as dwarfs is dehumanizing.

But when a photo was released where they replaced the dwarves with non-dwarf humans, people were upset that there were no dwarves. There is no win

Being small is a huge advantage when crawling, or walking, around in a cramped cave. The archetypical dwarfes in stories often working in mines, or actually living in caves, is based on the real world. And I don't think the portrayal of the dwarfes in the original Disney movie is particularly backwards, compared to almost all the other story elements in the original Snow White movie. The dwarfes is a typical workteam, who worked and lived together long enough to no longer bother to conseal their character faults from each other, or being silly and joke around. I wouldn't mind working in such a team again.

Disney just didn't want to respectfully represent dwarfism. their ableism is at fault, not Peter Dinklage.

Why don't they just make original movies instead of trying to bring old ones back to life when they're now very outdated. Yes, let a random man just kiss a sleeping woman without consent, we should totally bring that story up to date. 🙄

I love peter dinklage and i know its an issue close to his heart but maybe why he is biased. Dwarfs was a fantasy race that does not exist and are often miners. dwarfism is not at all related other than that people with the condition are able to play dwarfs. Just like they had a basket ball player play alien because he was so tall. there should be more roles for people with dwarfism or any variety of people. The movie the hobbit was criticized for not using little people and cgi shrunk tall actors.

But hear me out: what if they cast the seven dwarves but flesh out their characters a bit? What if they were also forced to flee because the queen is *shocker* a huge bigot?

Not hard to remedy this situation. I think it's a massive L for Peter to shoot down 7 roles for little people when he could have easily helped Disney come up with a better scenario.
