The 2024 Specialized Kenevo SL is now in its Second Generation. But with little in the way of changes over its Gen1 predecessor is the new bike worth the upgrade? In this review I dig deep to find if this mountain bike really is the ultimate uncompromised approach to lightweight EMTB's.

Thank you for your review and feedback! I'm on a 1.1 and realized the same points. My 55#/ 25kg full fat is sitting there feeling lonely. I'm tempted to send her to new home! I also found 29r perfect for me.. no need for MX like the full fat. Bravo!

I own the Kenevo SL 1 and love it. My full fat YT decoy only gets ridden occasionally now. I think 35nm is plenty of power but it’s nice to know that the new one now gets a little extra power.
Regarding the seat insertion. I’m 5’9” and have somewhat short legs. The dropper post insertion is fine. Could it drop lower yes, is it deal breaker no. I have ridden plenty of chunchy trails in Southern California and it has never been a problem.
Motor wines but does not really bother me. The bike is so capable and handles so well compared to a full fat that I don’t really care about the noise. You tune it out after a couple of rides.

Downsizing to S4 would definitely change your mind in terms of how playful or nimble this bike is. I tested S4 and S5 (I'm 185cm)and it's night and day.

@EMTB Podcast 4:40 the reason I want a removeable battery on my bike is because
a) with a small battery I want to store a second one in my car so I can swap after 3 hours of riding on self shuttle days and
b) because some lidt services in Germany requires the battery to be removed for some ver stupid reason but you can't ride in the park with a battery.

I love my Trek Fuel exe but I would rather have the travel and geo and maybe motor of the KSL.
But the non-removable battery is a deal breaker for me, and tbh I very very happy with my fuel exe after I put on a 160 fork and upped the rear travel to 150.

I just got hold of a Levo SL Gen 2 to replace my KSL 1.1. I still haven’t posted the frame for sale yet.

I am thinking of getting the Gen 1 which is cheaper right now in Colombia. I'm afraid of the range and power but I am an above-average pedalist and I don't think this would be a major issue unless I am with a group of 4x bike (people). I am falling in love with the yellow version and S4 size (at 6'2"). I have the enduro S4 2022 and I love it. I want to move to this bike to go up the mountain here since there is no lift here and usually, people take a truck to go up the mountain. I am concerned about the obsolescence of these kinds of products which include a bunch of technology. I am also concerned about the 35NW today August 2024. The one I want is the expert edition which includes Xo1 and a bunch of things I know they I will fall in love with. Any input or point of view on this older model will be appreciated. Thank you for the video and thanks for the comments to whomever answers this post.

Great review, super informative, flows great. Not ridden a full sus Spesh for years..ever? There spesion is always up there in performance but always hampered by the seat tube, especially the early enduros...almost all of them!

How many runs can you do in BPW [pushbike] on a full charge?

Spesh should have thrown a 500wh battery in this thing then also have the optional extender. That would have made it absolutely perfect IMO

Great review! Question, do you find after the motor cut off point there is less drag with this? I have a full fat but peddling above the limiter is a real issue for me. Would be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks

Does anybody know if you can mullet this bike

Used this bike and the levo SL they both make the awful motor
whine that the gen 1 was known for.
Specialized should stop paying reviewers to say it’s improved. Just my opinion!

History: Bosch, Bosch, Bosch.... Bosch, Lapierre AM LTD., 22 Kenevo SL, 24 Kenevo SL 2 in S3.
After two Times of Motor- Changes, because of a whistling noise, see it in my Video, i gave the Bike back to Specialized (after two Years).
Now i ride 150 km with the SL 2.
The noise from the Motor ist much more quiter- but sucks Batterypower....
Your Video: There ist NO Space for a second Bottle Cage under the S5 Frame. Range Extender ist for Free on the S- Works. You displayed something from Navigation/ Garminwatch on the BIKE- Display!!??
My Marq Driver show me Accu- Power and the Gear from AXS. Nice.

I live in Ocala Florida but I’m seriously considering this from my first electric bike. Here’s what I don’t understand if you’re gonna go electric with a bike why would you not go long travel because it takes away any of the inefficiencies plus it would be more comfortable, especially for an old guy like me lol

Looks like a fun bike but way too expensive. Also having the seat that high as you cannot insert the post in long enough is a deal breaker for me. It is so fun to ride in boost going up and down on a full power bike. I still think this is an epic bike and great review.🙌🔥
