Prone Y Raises | Muscle Activation & Mobility - Upper Body
Показать описание
This video demonstrates how to perform prone Y raises (or prone Ys):
1) Lay on a flat surface face down. If you can, place a rolled up towel under your forehead to put the neck in neutral alignment (in a straight line).
2) Extend both of your arms in front of you at a 45 degree angle against your body. This is the starting position. From there, slowly raise both arms with thumbs up toward ceiling/sky until the end of your range of motion and slowly return.
3) Keep the rest of the body neutral and relaxed
4) Repeat 10 times
Activating muscles builds a mind-body connection and stimulates good posture and form, thereby improving performance. Muscle activation exercises include mobility-improving movements and muscle-isolation exercises. It’s important to do these exercises slowly to feel the smaller muscles engaging. If performed dynamically, larger muscle groups will overcompensate and, as a result, benefit from exercise will be lost.
