"President Barack Obama praised the Supreme Court's decision to legalize gay marriage nationwide, calling it a "victory for America."

"Our nation was founded on a bedrock principle: that we are all created equal," Obama said in a statement Friday in the White House Rose Garden.

"Sometimes there are days like this, when that slow, steady effort is rewarded with justice that arrives like a thunderbolt," he continued. "This morning, the Supreme Court recognized that the constitution guarantees marriage equality. In doing so they have reaffirmed that all Americans are entitled to equal protection of the law, that all people should be treated equally regardless of who they are or who they love."

"This ruling is a victory for America," he said."

Giving my neighbor the same rights as me doesn't diminish mine in the slightest.
Sorry right wingers, but there's no Constitutional right to discriminate.

FINALLY!!! We can finally say that on this day, June 26th 2015, the Civil Rights movement finally came to an end. Over the past 50+ years, we saw all Americans achieve equal rights regardless of race, religion, and sexual orientation. There is still tons of work to be done, but we are certainly headed in the right direction!!   #EqualityForAll   #LoveWins

OMG. HONESTLY. Do they EVER NOT find SOMETHING NEGATIVE about Obama? I love tyt but it's so annoying to always hear them complain about the 10% instead of giving him credit for the 90%.

Just give him credit and STOP ALWAYS docking him omg

Historic moment, congrats to USA! this is especially meaningful considering that the US hasn't really been a leader in LGBT rights. We needed this to happen in the US since it is by far the most influential country, by any standards.

glad it's over. so sick of hearing about it. they need to stop calling it " gay marriage " and just call it marriage. I'll be glad when people stop " coming out " too... I don't really care if you're gay or straight. when people stop making it a big deal that's when things will normalize. just be who you are & stop thinking total strangers need a dramatic reveal about it.

Why do people care who has sex with who? Worry about your own sexuality.

We need to pacify the world. This is one step towards it. Great news!

The selection of supreme court justices is the single most important reason for the politically discouraged not to ignore a presidential election. One more conservative justice and we'd be having this same fight for several more years at least.

Legalizing same-sex marriage will put us on the slippery slope toward legalizing polygamy.

Legally, there is no reason as to why same sex couples shouldn't be allowed to marry. However, just because something is legal doesn't mean that it is morally right. Let's not forget that slavery used to be legal.

Anyone else watch his speech and study his mannerisms think that he isn't happy about this? Especially the way he ended the speech. That awkward pause and the expression on his face didn't seem pleased. I could just be too cynical but I only think he is going along with this because it is like fighting a typhoon not to. Sadly though, that is the only reason I think most businesses are changing their stance too. Because they'd lose money if they didn't.
