Nieuw Statendam: Five Features we Loved

Sailed on Nieuw Statendam in December 2018 for Holiday cruise. Ship is lovely but not my fav as it often felt overcrowded especially around elevators and lido deck food court. Beverage policy was particularly annoying as I would have preferred to simply pay a bit more to have sodas included. Just felt like cruise line was trying to nickle and dime me and I don't even drink sodas.
Crew was definitely the best feature of the entire ship - courteous and always ready to lend a hand. World Stage was impressive but performances felt flat or canned without live music. Other live music venues were fantastic and especially enjoyed the rock band and piano bar. Main dining room was a disappointment - noisy and crowded with mediocre food. Enjoyed the lunch food at Lido deck food court but finding a table was a challenge on this crowded ship. Paid the $50 upcharge for Pinnacle Grill. Great service again. Folks in my group enjoyed their meals but my steak was exceptionally chewy.
Also, enjoyed the evening movies on the lido deck pool area with the NY deli cafe open late to serve snacks. Unfortunately, the area was often littered with piles of dirty dishes as there was no staff tending the area in the evenings. Would have liked a sports bar to hang out and watch the big game. There was only 1 screen behind the bar in the casino.
