Why do you miss your forehand when you go for it? This is one of the most frustrating things that can happen. You get into a good position in the rally and instead of putting your forehand away….. You send it sailing long or into the net. In this video I explain an important concept to help you improve forehand consistency in tennis when you are trying to hit more aggressively.

You get excited and abandon basics like keeping your head still. Look at Shapo in slow motion. Sometimes looks foreword AS he his hitting through. Lots of unforced errors. His coaches have been trying to fix this for years so I’ve been told.

I learned lately to feel my right shoulder touch my chin at the end of my follow through and let my right foot take a step forwards at the end of my forehand.

This accomplishes multiple goals at the same time. The chin touching the shoulder almost ensures that I keep my head still and eyes fixed on the contact point instead of my usual problem of initiating release of the stroke WITH MY HEAD looking towards the trajectory of the ball 😭. Didn’t know I moved my head so much until a coach showed me.

It ensures I use my core to rotate into the shot and not just use my arms. It has helped ensure my right shoulder is in front (or at least parallel to baseline) at contact.

So my body rotates counter clockwise but I keep my head still. That requires actually active contraction of the neck muscles clockwise…another group of muscles to train.

This has led to much improved tracking at contact and less shanks! The freedom to let my right leg and foot step forward ensures a shift of balance forwards adding power and helping to extend the contact zone linearly a bit more improving consistency. Try it!

Why do your videos seem so much more 'real' than other creators on here?
I can't seem to emulate or really use the information in other videos that basically say "just do it like Federer'. I'm not Federer
