It’s mind boggling to me that right now both galaxies are moving towards eachother at a velocity so insanely fast 300+ miles per second that even still it will take about 4 billion years for them to collide. Space is HUGE!

What a shame I'm going to miss all of this.

Several problems here: Andromeda is actually nearly twice the size of MW, the chances are they won't make a direct collision until after passing each other, and galaxies do not spin this way. Stars travel in and out of the arms as part of gravity waves, not like water down a kitchen sink.

It's crazy to think that everything in space happens so slowly, and yet it's all happening so much faster than we can even comprehend

That damn Queen will still be alive.

Just imagine there is another earth in andromeda and they’re talking about how our galaxy is going to collide with theirs

Edit: Thanks for 1.7k likes never thought *this* comment would get that much likes

RIP to the stars that ejected from its galaxy

So insane to think about that the spaces within the galaxies are so big that not much is actually going to collide directly. And if these were scaled down to oranges, the current distance they are separated with would be about only two meters apart.

I appreciate that all these simulations are silent because as cataclysmic as this event is, in reality it will occur in total silence.

That's like a billion year time span right there.

I believe I read that if two galaxies collide, none of the individual stars in each galaxy would ever collide. They're too far apart on average or something?

What I love about this event is that even though andromeda is nearly double the size of Milky Way, Milky Eay has nearly triple the dark matter fields. So in the end, it will be Milky Way that eats Andromeda

Imagine stargazing one night and then you suddenly see billions and billions of stars getting flung into the depths of space.

This isn't realistic. The galaxies would boomerang around one another, not instantly collide.

Even though it’s a simulation, millions of people still use this video.

To be honest that looks so satisfying but in reality its terrifying!
