I have ASPD, I was diagnosed in the Navy. When I was younger, I was misdiagnosed with ADD for misbehaving but I believe it roots for my father being in and out of my life. Growing up in school isolating myself from people.

ASPD is one of the most frustratingly misunderstood disorders especially because of the pop-psychology. There becomes such a focus on the drama, or like you mentioned with the DSM-V's approach, focus on the external actions, that discussions on the core of these dysregulations become buried. Thank you for providing such a clear and digestible analysis. Hopefully more attention can come to you soon! :)

I've been diagnosed with BPD and just today I was talking to Mt psych and have 5 of the 7 traits for ASPD. He didn't "diagnose" me ASPD but itsnin my chart and may be added official as a diagnosis in the future. This video helped understand where I'm at. Thank you.

I have all of these traits and I know I'm a bad person but many people reassure me that I'm great and I've been blessed with love my entire life. If only people knew. (And believe me it's not like I want to be this way, I'm not exactly a malicious person but I have problems with my emotions and I am very quick to extreme anger and I tend to deflect almost all criticism) This video summed up some of my personality traits so accurately but I think it's good because I feel more educated and self aware and maybe that can help me with improving myself in the future. Thank you for the lesson!

Heyy, I wish your videos got a lot more views, you reallyyyy deserve them! I can sense that you really do research thoroughly, simplify it effectively, and note genuinely interesting nuances that help us contexualize it all practically. I am doing my masters right now and these videos are such a treat in helping me consolidate what I know and learn more too!

I posted on reddit a few days ago about my lack of empathy and lack of emotions and someone mentioned ASPD. I tick 7/8 of the DSM criteria and don't know what to do now. I'm tired of expressing fake emotions like when I say I'm proud of someone, and tired of pretending to care if someone I'm close to is sick or near death.

My son havs gone through a lot. He doesn't have this and I have identified what he mostly has. But honestly, I do not need to put a label to his condition. In mental health, several disorders/conditions overlap symptoms, since they are the same. There's lots of dangerously misdiagnosed people around. Treatments are kind of the same with CBT or DBT, plus medication. Even same medications are used to treat several of those conditions. And have terrible side effects. Each head is a world. So treatment, is supposed to affect each one differently. I do believe more in holistic, natural treatments, with the will power and complete cooperation of the patient and his close support team members. It doesn't provide my son any benefit, to put a label on his heart and soul, that will not change anything positively, but will add more pressure on his self image and strong emotions. Just love, good care, the best support and discipline on his holistic treatment and daily moments of prayer, with God's do better. ❤

Eye opening. My spouse now 50-100 days in the slammer. Mom malignant narcissist and Dad died when she was 18. Virtually parent less as a young adult.

I work with someone who has this. He is a pathological liar and never takes responsibility. He knows he shouldn't do certain things and does them anyway. When questioned, he always says "I didn't know" or "I didn't say that". He throws his little tantrums and talks to himself when he's angry. I stay away from him and don't speak to him unless i have to.

I very know that i have many of the Symptoms you listet. But i also know that the Society is the one who fucked me up. In my home and in my safe spaces like when im alone in the forest i am ok. but i can't keep up to people, the most don't deserve it better. there are so many narcissistic, egoistic and gaslighting people in this world that its sickening to live around them.
i hope i find more peace in another city soon, less population, less bullshit that affect my personality
