really common job this guys, if you own this engine you may of had this done, if you haven't there is a good chance you may in its ownership so will give everyone an insight to the job. Although this video makes it look very easy this is actually an 8 hour job! Hope you enjoy all the best everyone.

Did this job at home with help from a couple of friends after being quoted £2, 000 by my Mercedes Dealership.
It's a BIG job, one whole day to take everything apart and another day to put it all back together.
I'm not scared of this engine anymore!

Like somebody said. It's like watching "Open Heart Surgery" ! Gives one a real appreciation of having the specialist mechanic do this type of intricate work.

It’s very refreshing to see people who no what they are doing I wish you were near to me.

Seeing a proper specialist, and honest, mechanic work is amazing!!! Most would cut corners unfortunately... Keep up the good work

That was very interesting. And you're the first garage I've seen that uses a procedure manual built from experience with the parts included to make sure nothing is missed from the job. It must make a great training tool also. I'm surprised more garages don't use this. 11k views from 7k+ subscribers means there's a lot of sharing and recommending being done. A sure sign of a quality channel !

It's like watching open heart surgery! The complexity of these things is fascinating, and if anything it's a wonder there aren't more common issues, gives you respect for the engineering involved and also how important a specialist is when it comes to cars like this.

Also, the W211 is one of my favourite cars, from a time where comfort was king. Big luxury barge of a car :) Was in Cyprus recently and 90% of all the Taxis there are W211. Taxi driver wanted me to go into business with him importing them from the UK 😂

Ive watched thousands of videos on Youtube. But I have not ever seen one as honest and thorough as this one. "Saving the customer thousands", does not happen these days! I live in the United States and have a 2009 E-320 Bluetech that I love and have had no issues with at all. But I am retired and live on a fixed budget. Im trying to service my vehicle myself when I can. So I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. It helps more people than you realize. I would never attempt a repair of this magnitude but it showed me the warning signs, and whats to be expected if it happens. Thanks again for taking the time to make the video and being care.... (New subscriber also) Prost!

This is one of the best engines Mercedes made after 2000 . I've had it in many vehicles including jeeps . As long as you keep it up with preventive maintenance and change the oil every 8000 km it runs and runs and runs ... as long as you're not scared to do some stuff yourself, it's not really expensive . Love it, recomend, 5 stars, 10 out of 10 .

Your attention to detail is first class. Glad I decided to buy a boring 2.1 4 cylinder C class now!

2 other common issues I have found over the years is the PCV on the back left head faiils which allows the oil to travel down the pipe and into the "Y" pipe and then out of the large orange seal. The turbo ends up being changed thinking it's leaking oil when infact it's the PCV thats failed instead. The other one is the large green O ring in the inter cooler pipe at the top of the engine. It's either missing or not giving a proper seal.

I so like your channel. Just, what I did to my 648 straight 6 cdi was removing the flaps altogether. The whole system is just to vulnerable. Oh, also disconnecting the egr. Life is good. But I’m living in Texas. Probably not possible in the UK. I feel so sorry for all the regulations you have to deal with. And just to get some more oomph I had my ecu remapped by Renntech. You got to love these diesels. Pretty rare in the USA.

Amazing! How tightly packed are all those components! If that was me, I would be looking for those washers and nuts that are making a bid for freedom. When I was 21, I tried cleaning and rebuilding a Stromberg carburettor on my Hillman Imp, without realising I had lost a washer down the inlet manifold - expensive mistake! Respect to you and your team!

It's a systemic fault.
The friggin o ring! Used everywhere in automotive today, designed to fail.
The sheer amount of work caused by this feature is mind blowing.

Late arrival, I just finished this job on my new to me 06 ML320 cdi. The job itself can be fiddly, but it's all the cleaning that takes time. It was n good experience though. Thanks SPR for sharing vid like this making it possible for a guy like me to keep my ML on the road.
