Reminder to everyone: It's very likely for someone with ADHD to have these things, but having them doesn't necessarily mean you have ADHD. It could be another disorder, or you might just be forgetful.
However, if they cause issues or interfere with your daily life, you should probably start researching.

Just a reminder that these are also all normal in children. It is to the extent that they actively harm your life and relationships that a diagnosis is warranted.

So here’s the thing, kids are really underdeveloped adults, so they forget things, might still have problems with manners, and are not costumed to sitting still for long periods of time. That being said ADHD is all of these things, but, it’s more about the frequency of these behaviors. ADHD effects a person on a daily basis, making most tasks difficult or even impossible. And yes, I have ADHD. Most of these symptoms are normal as long as you feel it’s not dragging you down constantly.

i got diagnosed but my parents never did anything about it and refused to admit i was ever diagnosed. instead they yelled at me constantly and told me to “stop having adhd.” like that’s how it works 💀

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid, these signs were known, and acknowledged, I just got yelled at for most of them🧍

I was diagnosed as ADHD as a child and I still got from teachers "you can control this and you're choosing not to." When I had no idea what they were talking about I was just being me.

I was diagnosed as an adult, because I had these *except* the hyperactivity/loudness, so the person who evaluated me as a kid just said I needed better self-discipline. 🤬 It wasn't until adulthood and I was still struggling when I said screw it, got reevaluated and finally diagnosed. Unfortunately since I missed that early window of opportunity when kids most easily form habits, even with my parents' best attempts I still struggle with basic things. Wish I knew who that first evaluator was so I could have her pay all the dental bills I've accrued from struggling to remember to brush...😒

The fact that I have all of these and my mom would just tell me "you're imaging that, " or "you're crazy, you don't have ADHD"

arty.

All of these were ignored as a kid in me too... I got diagnosed at thirty years old and now everything that was a problem in my childhood suddenly makes sense

My mom doesn’t wanna take me to get checked and I have all the signs, but she says “I don’t want more problems to deal with.”

When I’m talking and someone else starts talking I feel a indescribable RAGE.

When I was a kid ADD didn't "exist" we were considered problematic. in my 20s it was considered cute and quirky. in my 30s I started to realize I was treading water as an adult. in my 40s I've dealt with nothing but depression and a complete regret for not knowing how to handle my life. I'm on meds now- but the reality is that ADD is a struggle. Relationships, friendships, jobs, self definition, ambition. "It's like fighting with one hand tied behind your back"

My parents would always tell me I "procrastinated" when what I was really doing was starting something, getting distracted, and then doing something else. Like it would take me all DAY to clean my room because I would clean a bit, then I would find some box or toys and hyper-focus on organizing that instead, and I would make an even bigger mess in the end.

I was known by teachers as the kid that wouldn't sit still, wouldn't listen to instruction, would forget what we were doing as we were doing it, was annoying and obnoxious in class, super shy and introverted when making a new friend, and I always interrupted my classmates.

Then one day my dad forgot that he was about me and cancelled plans when supposed to pick me up for a weekend, and my mom says that I became a completely different person, quiet, attentive, still shy, and I never spoke out in class anymore. My mom tends to forget about the old behavior when addressing that I might have ADHD because I'm her kid and there's no way her oldest kid has ADHD when she spent so little time with her ADHD father.

I’ve got most of these
I’m not diagnosed, but let’s talk about the teachers for this.
They don’t understand we can’t control it, a lot of us are artists! We like to draw and get hyper focused on that one thing. We are going to get distracted and procrastinate. I swear, the amount of times I’ve gotten in trouble for drawing is stupid, actually help them, not punish them.
