I've developed a nervous tick, watching your friend putting his shoes on the ottoman

I purchased a 1964 Eames Lounge Chair in an estate sale & just got it fully restored. It’s been a dream of mine to own one & seeing it restored had me on the moon.

Hands down the best on youtube. You never fail to teach me valuable information on various chairs. I salute you brother

Glad your video popped up in my recommended tab. I almost forgot about this channel existing, you are the goat of chairs. The level of production value is over the top in the best way possible

As a proud owner of the Eames Lounge Chair, configured with Walnut veneer and black all grain leather (tall version), I can tell any potential buyers the following: It is absolutely beautiful and can best be described as "functional art", as far as living room decor goes. Second, it is a lounge chair. Not an office chair, not a couch and not an armchair. Why people would buy this chair then complain about not being able to sit upright or leaning forward in it comfortably is beyond me. It's not designed for that, hence other types of chairs exist. If you are looking for a comfortable, incredibly well built, sturdy yet plush LOUNGE chair to relax in then you will be very happy with this purchase. It is my favorite chair to watch tv in, read in or just sit back and relax in while listening to my audio books/music. Every piece of this chair is individually replaceable, so as mentioned in the video it will outlast you and your children. Note, not just the cushions or arm rests but everything on that chair can be replaced or repaired. For reference, I am 6'1" tall and I like to slouch while relaxing in it and my head fits into the headrest area perfectly, there is no exaggerated head tilt back onto the edge of the wood "oh my God this is awful" type experience as illustrated in the video. Thats not a knock on the video, I understand he needs to review it from every angle and potential sitting position as possible, but again this is just not something that will happen in real life. Almost done here lol but I would just like to make a couple more points to help with anyone struggling to make a decision... The chair is set to a 15 degree angle, you can not change that but there is "give" to the chair, so its not like you're sitting against a wall. That angle is designed to provide maximum pressure relief on your spine and lower back (which it absolutely does) and has outstanding lumbar support when sitting in it properly. All of that being said, I also own a LazyBoy "Maverick" recliner and it is an entirely different kind of chair and experience. A chair I highly recommend if you're just looking for super plush and soft, rocking and reclining where, when reclined, your knees actually elevate above your waist line, taking ALL pressure off of them and can even position into "zero gravity". Basically, just decide what type of sitting/lounging experience you want to have on a daily basis when you get home and buy accordingly. Lastly, I got my Eames on sale for 20% off plus free shipping. This is a sale they run a few times per year. Sorry for the book long comment, I'm just trying to help people with making the right decision for themselves. Feel free to respond if you have any questions I didn't cover.

Nearly bought one, still might buy one one day but I ended up getting an Ekornes Stressless recliner, the Reno specifically but many of them are also great. It is simply the best recliner. The green leather Eames chair is gorgeous, the blue too but the green is the one I would go with. I would not go with the fabric options, sat in them and they don't feel nearly as good as the leather. The Stressless leather is butter soft semi aniline leather, the chair is multi-positional and can recline flat and the ottoman can be unlocked and pivot back and forth, truly a superior recliner.

My dad had one when I was growing up, not sure if it was real or not but it was lost before he past away when I was younger. One of those core memories for some reason. So it is a chair I would very much like to own one day for other reasons then just the beautiful aesthetic or status.

Stressless makes some very good versions of this chair. My wife has had one for nearly 15 years and it looks brand new.

If you’re worried about your friends thinking your chair is a fake, spend it on therapy instead, because if your self-worth is tied to what your friends think of your chair, you have bigger issues than needing/wanting this chair 😂

When it comes to ultimate comfort, durability and complete back support, particularly for your lumbar region, Stressless stands head and shoulders above the rest.

I have one, love it.

Also, highly disagree with getting the "tall size". Unless you are 6' 4", get the standard. FYI Charles Eames was 6' and the tall was only introduced later with the proliferation of basketball stars wanting this chair.

Loved the history part of this video. Also, I can tell you put more effort into this one. Great stuff!

Indeed, a timeless classic. Not only is it beautiful, but very comfortable, as well. This is a particularly beautiful example of the style.

It’d be cool some time to compare the Herman Miller (US) and Vitra (European) versions of the chair. Both are ‘official’ so it’d be neat to see any differences.

Damn, I didn't expect the history lesson. Superb video.

After all this time, it still feels so polished. I think it speaks to an era of masterful design.

When I was a kid, my uncle had a music room with two Eames lounge chairs (black leather). To me, it's a nostalgic thing. I'll get one when I move to a bigger house 😂
