My dog has epilepsy and this is the saddest thing to watch. They don’t know what’s happening and it’s the most heartbreaking thing to watch for an animal who loves you so much.

I just lost my fur baby yesterday to a seizure episode. She had them infrequently over the last several years; everytime I asked the vet about them, they said that my dog didn't have them in close enough events to warrent dog medicine.

She had just finished eating her breakfast when it happened. I shouldn't have even been there, but I was late for my bus. My dog usually had a 10-15 second episode before coming out of it, but this time lasted too long. Eventually her heart just stopped. I gave her CPR for over 10 minutes while taking her to the vet, but by the time we got there, she was too far gone. It feels like a bad dream that I can't wake up from. I miss my fur baby so much it hurts.

I hate this so much. I lost my dog to a seizure and after it, she froze and couldn’t move. She was 17 and had a seizure then got paralyzed. I love you, sweet angel.
Rip steeler- Here before I was even born. My baby, I miss you so much. I want to hug you, Steelie-butt. I want to give you so many kisses in heaven. I love you my precious baby. Fly high, Steeler. 🕊️🪦💔

The worst part about my buddy doing it is I have to turn off my emotions. I just have to sit there and watch and it kills me, but I know if I let my emotions take control I might hurt him trying to help, or worse lose control of how I feel and panic.

You can tell that guy has dealt with his dog having seizures because he was calm during the whole thing. He's just lets the dog go through it and is right there by his side.😢

One of my babies had epileptic seizures when they were young all the time and it looked almost exactly like that. We have him medicine for it and he eventually grew out of it, as he stopped having them. It broke my heart every time he had one, because I could do nothing to help him, but be there to comfort him when the seizure ended.

My dog used to poop, froth, and pee himself when he had seizures. These were caused by a brain tumor. It changed his behavior whenever he had them, and the medications weren't working to prevent them as well as when we first started. He lasted strong for about half a year, but we decided to do the best thing we could. On the day, we gave him all of the stuff he could never have, he went on his last walk, he said goodbye, we took him on a car trip and let him have the best day ever.

I love you Shadow, I always will. I still leave your treats by the dining room, and near your favorite laying spot. Oreo and Gizmo still love you, please know that they never blamed you for your behavior. Whenever we play the Spongebob Squarepants theme Oreo and Gizmo still try and sing for you. It isn't the same without you, I wish you could hear it. Please rest well my sweet boy. We will always remember you.

I lost my soul dog a year ago tomorrow after a 4 year long battle with canine epilepsy. This brought me right back to sitting with him through seizure storms and the feeling of utter helplessness and worry. Not knowing if that would be the one to take him. His last day was spent with his vets feverishly trying to save him only to find he had permanent brain damage and I had to choose to let him go into peace. I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone. Sending this baby’s humans love and light.

Just gotta stay with him and make sure he's okay through it. I find the best way is to just pet them and tell them they are okay. Also helps to be there to prevent them from breaking something or twisting strangely in a small space. Keep your puppers safe everyone ❤️

This happened to my beagle mix as we were going to bed. I thought she was dying. It was terrifying. We rushed her to the emergency vet & she was diagnosed with epilepsy with cluster seizures at two years old. Apparently epilepsy is common in beagles... but it usually doesn't show until 3-4 years old. She had seizures on average every 1-3 months for the rest of her life. Over time, we were able to see slight changes in her the day leading up to the seizure. We were able to prepare for when it would happen. You're supposed to talk sweetly to them during it & reassure them. Many times they can still hear you during the seizure - so talking sweetly to them reassures them during a scary seizure.

I've had 2 dogs with epilepsy. For 10 years I worked with children with seizures. I figured God gave me these dogs because I could keep them safe.

It's so hard seeing this for the first time, but it is so important to stay calm.

If you get scared, and freak out, it will bring additional stress to the animal.

My dog had seizures and he always knew just a few seconds before it hit so would come find one of us. He’d crawl in our lap and we’d hold him so he couldn’t get hurt. It was so sad to see and we hoped it wasn’t painful for him. He seemed fine right after and we would just hug & kiss him better ❤

Just like my first dog. We woke up to him fitting exactly like that on the bedroom floor. When he came round he had no idea where he was and ran around in a panic. When we managed to calm him down, he was OK but exhausted. The vet said it was either a brain tumour or late onset epilepsy (he was 8yo). When he started fitting every day, we took the vets advice and had him put to sleep. Truly heartbreaking. I still miss Morgan to this day, and always will and it's been 35 years. His photo is on the wall.

My dog had epilepsy. She was on barbiturates most of her life for it. She lived a really long time too. I think she had a good life. She was always a little stoned seeming after she started the meds, but it stopped the seizures and she still seemed happy. Just more sleepy than before. She was such a good dog. Miss her.
