Chris - Try adding the SoundSource software from RogeAmobe to your computer. Once you do that, you can then add the SoundID Reference plugin to SoundSource. This allows you to keep the use of SoundID on your main outs, still at zero (or close) latency and also use it on your DAW monitor bus without having to add SoundID to a bus, etc. in your DAW. SoundSource lets you defnine multiple outputs (main, daw monitor, headphone monitor, etc.). You can then switch SoudSource to the output you are monitoring and within SoundSource, select the SoundID profile you are using (studio monitors, headphones, etc.). Doing it this way, you never have to worry about adding SoundID to the monitor output on your DAW.

For the monitors that does not have speaker calibration sonarworks is a way to go. But folks who use Genelec SAM systems the level of calibration is so accurate and fast and plus grade report for the room correction suggestion is like hiring a top notch acoustician and designing a room. After the speaker are calibrated it stays stored in speaker and also in cloud so need for extra plugins within DAW. Great video

Hi Chris, I’ve been using SoundID that I bought with my Adams A7X monitors since late last year and I calibrated those and also my old (now secondary monitors) Alesis M1’s which are 25 years old. I can tell how much SoundID works because when I now switch between the 2 sets of monitors there is very little difference between them, compared with when SoundID is bypassed, then there is a huge difference between the raw/uncorrected speaker sounds. It has been working trouble free until a few days ago when I upgraded from previous Cubase version to the latest small update 12.0.3 then the profiles are all set to my headphone profile and I can’t alter them, amongst other Cubase issues so I’m going to try to downgrade Cubase again as you advised me how, as soon as I get in my studio and hope all returns to normal. This is clearly something that both Steinberg and Sonarworks will work together on to sort out which they will as Sonarworks is relied upon by so many professionals. I’m sure many folk will benefit from your video as always 👍

Sonaworks is great. I use in my home studio and also my work AV suite. Completely different rooms and speakers...but the result is the same...genius!

I remember back in the day your control room was pinged and the result was input on a 30-band hardware eq which was locked to stop anychanges.

I purchased SoundID last fall and it is great. Way fewer trips out to the car to check mixes! LOL
Really improved my mixes. Be sure to get your room sounding good with acoustic treatment before using SoundID. Thanks for your great videos, Chris! Always super informative! Cheers!

One Control Room question: In 11 Pro, if I have SoundID on the Control Room inserts section, will it affect audio exports? My understanding is it won’t, but just checking.

Hello Chris, I checked out and they offer upgrade price for Reference 3 and 4 owners. I wonder if the mic is the same, that is, if one owns the mic for Reference 4 already, it can be used for the new version.

I don’t understand. Do you tweak your mix based on how it sounds in the emulations?

If I use the car emulation and tweak the mix until it sounds good, is that what you’re trying to do?
