So now I can't smite as a Barbarian-Paladin? That sucks.

The smite nerf is so overkill. They just needed to look at the rogue sneak attack and limit it to once per turn, it would be simple and elegant. They really screwed the class for me. Good thing we have homebrew.

its def a nerf to paladin smites tho like any DnD rule you can ignore it (pretty sure alot of tables will ignore the smite nerf)

Smite did need some changes. Mostly due to multi-classing.

The blessed warrior may be worth it. Resistance got boosted to be a reaction so with your aura your groups saves could be pretty incredible.

I'm a DM and I *haaate* what they did to Divine Smite. If WOTC doesn't want Paladins to swordnuke our BBEGs, here's an idea: *stop writing monsters that are only challenging because it takes six hours to chew through their assloads of health!* So many combats in this game take longer than the average wedding ceremony, especially at higher levels when there's half a million different rules and effects to keep track of. I'll take a Paladin player at my table saying a nice simple, "I do 100 damage" over a Bard and Wizard taking two thirds of the session to calculate just how hard they're going to spitroast physics after having "ideas" any day.

Don't get me wrong - I *love* watching my players come up with hilarious bullshit, I just think the idea that Divine Smite of all things needed a nerf when so many full-casters have spells that basically let them trivialise the game is ridiculous. Close-combat characters are already severely underpowered in D&D as it is because pound-for-pound no yahoo with a warhammer is going to do as much damage over as large an area as a nerdy pyromaniac with the ability to casually change the winds of fate. So, yeah, I am absolutely not inflicting this bullshit on my players.
