I think it’s also worth pointing out that with the nerf you can only divine smite once per turn

The council has heard these changes, and we've decided to ignore them. Thank you.

If they want to take away my Divine Smite, I hope they are ready to rip it away from my fucking cold zealot hands.

I'm not sure I've seen anyone talking about it, but since it is now a spell, certain monsters that are immune to lower level spells are now just flat out immune to divine smite.

WotC - we turned divine smite into a spell and hunters mark into a feature
Players - why?
WotC - idk. Also here's another Wizard buff

Wait but the Arcane Trickster being able to steal it and fck you is funy as heck. Like, that's exactly what I would expect a magic-wielding dirty-fighting assassin

I think a nerf was bound to happen, but it really should still be a class feature. Making it a spell is too much.

In the immortal words of Jacob fom XP to level 3 on divine smites... "I tried to think of multiple ways to fix this overpowered BS but really I can't. This is a CORE FEATURE of the paladin and nerfing it would just make the class itself suck. You'd be a glorified fighter cleric which isn't what the paladin is about"

It seems wizards of the coast didn't get the memo...

No one seems to be as mad about this breaking any paladin barbarian multiclass like I am

We never gonna update our DnD-version with this one🔥🔥🔥

Wizards are going to break this with practicaly endless divine smites

Let’s not forget the coveted Barb + Pally multiclass which allowed you to rage with smite on top for insane damage. Not doable now due to being unable to cast spells while raging :(

They actually said that they changed the way magic initiate and magical secrets works now in the bard video from D&D Beyond. You can only pull spells from the Cleric, Druid, or Wizard spell lists, so no bards with smite unfortunately. However, there's no level cap on smite anymore, so your 16 sorcerer 2 paladin can empowered spell a 9th level smite, so thats cool

I don’t love the bonus action thing, but sure, whatever Wotc. But making it a spell gets rid of two of your most fun multiclassing options. No more smiting as a bear. No more smiting as a barbarian. Idk I feel like Wotc really wanted to reduce multiclassing in the new edition which makes no sense to me. If people want to optimize, let them do it.

Also, going nova on smites was like the paladin’s thing. Paladins and Sorcerers are the nova classes, feels weird to pivot so hard.

They changed Magic Initiate so you can't actually take Paladin spells. You can only take cleric, wizard, and druid spells, so you would actually have to multiclass

People seem to believe that smite is now called before the hit. It's still after the hit the only difference is that it's a bonus action. Still wish they just limited to one smite per turn like rougue.

I shall just keep it as my class feature, thank you.

Remember, dnd is the people sitting around a table rather then a corporation. Play as you want not what you are forced to do.

When you’re in a challenge to ruin the fun of playing a martial class and your opponent is WOTC:
