How to Fix Microsoft MS OUTLOOK not opening or crashing on startup with error code 0xc0000005 any many others.

This seems to be effecting a lot of Microsoft Office users with Outlook 2016 Outlook 2019 and the Office 365 versions of Outlook.

The recent update has corrupted or changed some required files and until Microsoft issue an update or fix this is the best we have so far. The problem has been widespread since July 15th 2020 but may be useful for other users in future.

HOW TO FIX

Open an administrator level command prompt by clicking on the Start Menu and typing CMD. When the 'Command Prompt' result appears, right click on it. And then choose run as administrator.

In the command prompt type
cd "\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"
and press enter.

You will now be in the ClickToRun directory or folder. Type in the following

and press enter.

Hopefully after the update has finished you can open Outlook again and the problem will be gone. Try not to update Windows or Office for a while and wait for an official fix or update for this problem.

Thanks, Mike! I haven't had the problem yet. BUT I only use Outlook for work because that's what my employer wants. I am pretty sure we are using an ancient version.

The command prompt to previous update version did not work for my outlook.

When I C&P the first instruction - cd "\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun" and Enter it just goes back to the Original Command Prompt where you C&P the first instruction. It just says - "the system cannot find the path specified" -
So I cannot C&P the second command....??? I'm lost.

I've never used Outlook. No point, no one sends me emails. Not even spammers. LOL

I uninstalled it today, would not open in safe mode and would not open in repair mode so I uninstalled Office 365 and then reinstalled it, still no good. I'm now using windows 10 mail instead. Microsoft are so rubbish!!
