Are you tired of dealing with stick drift on your PS5 controller? In this video, I dive deep into some possible reasons behind why Sony hasn't fixed this frustrating Stick Drift Issue, with Hall Effect thumbsticks—a proven technology that could eliminate drift for good. We'll explore some history of gaming controllers, the downsides of the DualSense Edge today, and why major brands like Sony, Microsoft, Scuf, and Battle Beaver aren't offering Hall Effect options. I also discuss alternative controllers like the HexGaming Phantom and Vitrix Pro BFG, and why these might be your best bet for a durable, long-lasting controller.

Plus, if you're curious about DIY controller mods, stick around to the end! I’m considering taking on a soldering project to build my own PS5 controller with Hall Effect sticks. If you want to see that happen, be sure to hit the like button and subscribe!

What sucks is not enough people know about this tech to force their hand. Hall effect parts are not expensive now so there is really no other excuse. Great video.

Sony are scaming the consumers, I checked the most sold Sony PS5 items, the PS5 was at the top and your usual games but in the top 20 there was like 4-5 different versions of the dualsense, they are selling like crazy due to the bad build quality and the fact that there are no other choices on the market. It's a monopoly.

Hall effect thumbsticks suffer from stick drift too. All the 8BitDo Ultimate Xbox/PC controllers (both wired and bluetooth) use hall effect sticks, and they develop stick drift, some after just days. They also have slower response time. If anything, hall effect sticks seem to suffer from stick drift and other issues more than regular potentiometer sticks.

I don't know if this is actual foul play by controller makers. When mice started having double click issues, some mice makers said this wan't them trying to break mice, but this was because the market of switches was monopolized by a Japanese brand named Omron, and that brand made sure those switches break over time. It wasn't until mice makers started making their own switches, that the issues started getting resolved. Something similar might be happening with controllers.

Honestly hoping we just get like ebay sellers who sell reasonally priced ps5 dual sense motherboards with hall effects already installed so we can just swap it in.

Liked and subscribed!!! I may have to learn soldering my self too, my controller is 5 months old and is stick drifting like crazy. I don’t want to buy a new controller every 6 months, mine as well make controller subscription $10 a month and if the controller brakes send it back an get a new one jaja

On an unrelated note, what's the name of the music that plays at the start?

It's genuinely one of my favourite royalty free songs, but I still don't have the name. 😅

amazing points. i just hope that they either produce more thumb stick modules or just release newer versions with hall effect sticks so you don’t need to produce any more stick modules. only reason to own a playstation is just for the exclusives which Sony brought like insomniac. i just want a controller which has hall effect, trigger stoppers or mouse click, no paddles ( right hand claw player, i dint use paddles because i’m not good with them but if they want they can have options for none, 2 or 4). and just over all built well, i would have no problem paying 300-320 for a controller that I KNOW FOR A FACT will not get stick drift or break. the same should go for nintendo, there gamecube official controller sometimes drift but i’m not sure about he pro controller. xbox controllers too, but i only heard or seen a video once about a elite 2 having drift so they seem to be doing a fine job.new sub

edit: do you know of phantom has controllers without back buttons or paddles?

Apparently there was a ps3 controller with a hall effect sensor

$200+ for hall effect is actually just pure greed. 8bitdo and Gulikit make sub 50$ controllers with hall effect joysticks and triggers. It's unhinged.
