Compare the beginning of the full-scale war to the Kursk expedition. Ukrainian civilians throwing molotovs at russian convoys, the defense of Hostomel, lines of people wanting to volunteer.
However when Ukrainians entered Kursk, the conscripts surrendered, the chechens ran away, civilians don't want to risk it. To different types of people.

Its very sad BUT TRUE that When soldiers are captured you can tell who is civilised and who are barbaric. Ukrainian soldiers fighting are well fed Properly clothed and clean, when they get captured they eventually return from russia Under fed, Their Clothes dirty torn/missing and they smell, are ill. When russian soldiers are captured they are already starving, poorly clothed, smelly, and in need of medical help, BUT when they are exchanged for Ukrainian soldiers, The russian prisoners DON'T WANT TO GO HOME because they are treated better as a prisoner than as a citizen of russia by russians
