"While Caitlin is fantastic and I think she's going to have an incredible career in the WNBA, there were women who were worthy of coverage prior to her, and I will not be silenced when it comes to that." Basketball analyst, host, ESPN reporter, and NY Knicks Radio analyst Monica NcNutt breaks down her viral debate with Stephen A. Smith about Caitlin Clark and the WNBA and discusses the larger underlying issues of gender, race, and class that impact the way people talk about women’s basketball. She and Jon Stewart discuss the WNBA’s journey to this moment of boosted popularity, and what new fans of the league should know about the women who have spent the last 30 years building it. #DailyShow #WNBA #MonicaMcNutt

I was ecstatic to see her on the show. She knows her basketball and makes hard subjects digestible. She is smart and handles these tough conversations with calm and grace. I hope she gets more exposure and even more opportunities to share her talents. Bravo 👏🏾 to Monica and Bravo 👏🏾 to Jon.

I really love how Jon put Monica over. She starts saying "Caitlin Clark is why I'm on this show" and Jon immediately shuts that down, lists all of Monica's accolades, gushes his personal admiration for her, makes it very clear that Monica made it here on her own merit.

I’ve seen Monica on First Take before. She’s always been a level headed voice of reason which is more than can be said about many others on that show.

Caitlin is getting the attention she's getting because of the records she has broken. I remember watching Pistol Pete in a TV biopgry in grade school and being in awe of his quickness.

In the immortal words of Bill Burr: "Where are all feminists" who should be supporting the WNBA and raising the salaries of the players?

Wow Jon, you have to push back a little bit about how many more eye Caitlyn has brought to the WNBA. MJ, Magic and Bird did the same thing. It’s unprecedented.

The foul was not a basketball play. That is the problem. Not the physical part of a basketball league.

Interesting, Clark isn't complaining about the physicality of the game.
There is a whole lot of projecting on Clark.
She's just there to compete and play basketball

Are these people really this disconnected with reality? This is the worst marketing decision in the history of womens sports.

they think they can decide what brings attention, they just don't get it

I played basketball through high school and college, back in the dark ages prior to Title IX. I totally support a fast, aggressive game, but have never participated in flagrant fouling. There is a difference, and unsportsmanlike behavior is not making the game better…that is my preference. As a coach in youth sports I always pushed fast, aggressive tactics, but never tolerated unsportsmanlike behavior from my players.

They’re in the physical where the nba was back then. Then magic and Larry brought attention just like what’s going on in the wnba. Before Larry and magic was Dr. J, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Bill Russell, people who shoulda brought the attention to the nba but for some reason that college hype sets it up everytime in every sport.
