How We Use The Behringer XR18 To Record Our Live Shows

I'm discussing how David and Stephanie record their our shows. This same set up applies, no matter which band I perform with.

The Behringer XR18 digital mixer is running our main mix for the audience, out monitor mix, and sending the audio to my laptop, so we can multitrack record the performance. See how.

Got more out of your video for setting up iem's. Than all the other vids I watched on the subject. Good job. Thanks.

Great video! Just grabbed the MR18 for wireless mixing & multitrack recording.

Great video! Is the audio separated out by track in logic when recording?

How do you SIMPLY send the XR18's FX and EQ to a DAW along WITH the dry signal for each track?

Our XR18's mix sounds perfect LIVE, and that's exactly what I want the computer to record! I DON'T want to add FX and EX to the tracks in the DAW later!

Hey David, I would like to setup my gear the same way as you, that's excactly how I want it! but I would need help to make all of this work... I got XR18, I work on Mac, I use Ableton to record, but I can't here anything from the Xair Phone output...Do you have other videos that explain how to setup all this together? Thx!

I use DaVinci Resolve to do video and music.... you can do all your stuff in ONE software, - the sound editing in DaVinci is awesome. Thanks for your video

Love the e935s and e845s, cannot understand why everyone opts for the SM58 which suits so few vocalists.

I use Davinci Resolve to edit my videos. I find that I can zoom in and out from a single camera view to create movement. I made a few cool videos using a crappy old standard res camera (all of the good cameras got washed out by bad lighting). You can see what I'm talking about in any of the "High Street Jack, Live at Hannigan Palace " videos. I used the zoom L-20 for the audio, but the basic setup is similar to yours.

Did you notice the signal clipping when multitracking? I just recorded my gig and all the tracks start clipping when we got louder. Any way to fix this? The gain was fine in the mains

Thanks Dave. Do you know if you can hook up a midi controller keyboard to the XR18 to play software instruments in your DAW?

Nice video! Do you carry/setup any of your own lighting ever? My experience is that GoPros don't tend to perform well in lower light...but your footage appears to have no issues. Thanks!

Hey. Great video. Just a question. Do record the video in just one big track or you start and stop the recording for each song? And in that case how do you control the cameras? Thanks

Hi, we're using xr18 to record our live worship as well to multi track record. The thing is the sound that is coming in to the DAW is so low. Is there something that I need to change on the xair app?

David, thank you for sharing this video. I am purchasing the same XR18 and a 4-channel DI box.

Our band’s set up is pretty similar to yours. Except the bass has no cabinet simulations, just 2 amp heads for splitting dirty and clean. Basically the 2 amp heads will go directly into the XR18, would you happen to know if the XR18 would be able to run cab simulations for bass, in your professional opinion?

Cheers!

Any idea how to send MIDI out from my VDrum module (USB) into the X18 MIDI In, and have that record MIDI data into a Pro Tools Instrument track? The idea being to trigger Slate drum samples in Kontakt. Is this possible?
