Welsummer Chicken Breed

The Welsummer Chicken breed is friendly, intelligent, and easy to handle. Even roosters are friendly and great for backyard flocks! Their average lifespan is 6-12 years, and they lay around 150-200 large brown eggs per year that are often speckled. Welsummers do not go broody often but make great mothers when they do. This breed is very hardy, making them ideal for both cold & warm climates. The Welsummer breed is available in large and bantam sizes.

I have two welsummers. One hen and one rooster!

I have a rooster that is a welsummer cross aracauna and he is the CUTEST rooster I have literally ever seen in my life. And he’s a real gentleman too.. the kids love him and they named him Leonardo. We hatched him with a batch of rainbow eggs (he’s 6 months old now) and he’s the sweetest boy… I’m about to hatch out a batch of our own rainbow eggs for the first time, but I’m buying a day old welsummer in a few days to put her in with the rest because I really want those beautiful eggs!!
