I just got chickens about two months ago; three little hens to start out with. I have two Dominiques and one Golden Comet and honestly, my Golden Comet is the MVP of my little flock. She started out being bullied by the two Dominiques, but is now the big boss on the yard. She is easily the most personable (and I DEFINITELY agree with the nosy bit) and lays for me reliably every day, with the rare every other day. I absolutely agree that she has had phenomenal shell thickness from the get-go and her eggs are huge! Any time I post pictures of my daily egg haul to praise my girls, even my chicken-keeping friends joke that I have a pet emu. I got my Dominiques because their coloring was stunning to me, and heavily considered just getting three of them or waiting it out for a Wyandotte, but instead picked up my Golden Comet on a whim with the promise that she'd lay more eggs, and boy has she come through, both laying-wise and personality-wise. She not only started laying earlier than the two Dominiques, but she also lays bigger, richer eggs and lays more regularly. She is also SO talkative and funny and she follows me around anytime I'm in their run. I would absolutely 10/10 recommend Golden Comets to anyone and I'm so glad you paid them some love in this video!

Our customers have been so excited to try the blue and green eggs, for some reason people think they might taste different I guess. Ameraucana aren't that prolific of layers, but I've got a buff orpington-ameraucana cross that lays olive eggs and she lays a lot more.

Spot on! My neighbor has a golden comet, and boy is she nosy. That chubby little hen will walk up and down my fence begging for some treats. My welsummer is exactly how you described, very independent, but when it comes to me she is the sweetest little thing. Thank you for the information, please make more chicken videos, they're the best!! ;)

It is amazing that each chicken lays a different colored egg. I like the color for the Maran. Thanks for sharing

Thank you for showing the and explaining the breeds and eggs colors. One of my Welsummer girls lays a huge double yolk at least once a week. I was concerned she may have some health issues as a result but she is happy and shows no signs of distress. ❤💜💚

First of all, great news about your husband. Prayers work. We are raising 30  birds right now after your recommendations of Buff Orpingtons and Black Austrolourps. They should start laying in July and we are ready. Had to sell our flock last year of Barred Rocks. Thanks for so much info which really helps. Would love to see a video of your barn, since I need to build ours soon.
