My Credit Card Strategy!

We are officially into 2023 and it is time for me to break down my preliminary credit card strategy for the new year! I made this same style video last year, but unfortunately things didn't go as planned... In 2022 I had plans of traveling more than I did, but life kept getting in the way so I decided to alter my strategy. I began focusing heavy on cash back and I plan on continuing that strategy into early 2023.

I do have 2 trips planned for 2023; I will be going to the Bahamas around August and also Asheville, NC around next Christmas. I also plan on applying for the Discover It Cash Back card and the Chase Sapphire Preferred card.

Even if things don't work out how you have them planned... it's ok! You still need to make a plan and have an idea of what you want to accomplish in mind.

Using any of the links below directly supports myself and my channel and I truly can’t thank you enough for doing so!

Love the strategy! I'll probably be applying for less cards in 2023 as well. I just got approved for one and denied for another so I'm gonna be doing a similar 2023 strategy video this week too

Think the only two new cards I’m going to go for is the BILT Mastercard for rent, as well as the World of Hyatt. Great video!

Also, Asheville is an incredible city! Very artsy, great beer/food scene, and tons of live music.

New subscriber 😊. I am super excited to say that I got approved for the Chase Freedom Flex about a week ago and today I got approved for the Chase Ink Business Cash! Quick question, did you call Chase customer support and had them add your Chase Business CC that you had applied as a sole proprietor and had them move it to your personal cc profile?

So nobody is going to talk about the audio haha. Bro I Love you I see your videos on every upload but, your voice in this video is too high of a pitch. Not sure if it’s your mic, you need more Mid and Low on your equalizer. LOVE YOU BRO HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hey Mark! A card that could really help you with the Bahamas trip is the Wyndham Earner Business card. It has some really good earning categories, and you can status match to Caesar's Diamond! By having Caesar's Diamond, each year you are eligible for a four night free stay at Atlantis in Bahamas, you would just be responsible for taxes and fees. Hope this helps!

I’m a 20 year old college student so I don’t spend much money but here’s my current lineup and plan for my main spend categories in quarter 1:

Gas: 5% cashback with the Chase Freedom Flex first year offer

Grocery: 5% cashback with the Discover It student card and Chase Freedom Flex

Restaurants/Fast food: 5% cashback with Citi Custom Cash

Catch all card: 3% with Sofi Credit Card (goes down to 2% after I hit 1 year anniversary)

I also have the Apple Credit card and the APGFCU student card but both of those don’t get used. The cards on my wishlist for 2023 are the US Bank cash+ for its 5% categories, the Kroger card for 5% Cash back on the first $3000 of mobile wallet purchases, the AAA DAILY ADVANTAGE VISA for 5% on grocery, and the AAA TRAVEL ADVANTAGE VISA for 5% on gas. I’d love to hear thoughts, opinions, and critiques or areas I could improve my setup!

Your strategy makes a ton of sense! I plan on making a very similar video here pretty soon, but as you mentioned here, my whole strategy is subject to change. It's always fun to get a little roadmap planned out though! Best of luck with your card applications this year, even if it isn't many!

Did you end up getting the 90k in branch bonus? It's available now.

First year of Discover it can be your catch all card since the base rate is 2% with the bonus

We did the Grove Park Inn last Christmas. It was my first Spa experience and it was amazing. We were going to try and Grand Bohemian and do the Biltmore tour this year but had to cancel last minute. There are also some great breweries and restaurants I want to check out on my next trip. Good Luck in 2023!

Great Strategy sir! I recently noticed when I used my Amex BCE at Sam's Club, using the scan and go feature, I received 3% back on purchase.

I probably need to pick up the Amazon Prime Rewards card. While my Bank of America Custom Cash earns 5.25% for online purchases, I actually managed to go over the $2, 500 limit per quarter twice in 2022 so I need something to spread out the spend more. Besides that I don't see myself picking up anything else unless like you said there is some amazing sign up bonus.

I'll be doing the same with the CSP I will also be eligible for another sign up bonus around June or July

I just got the Chase Ink Business Cash today and I'll be waiting for a better welcome bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preffered later this year but other than that I don't really have my eye on any other cards right now. As far as trips I'll be hitting a few different cities in Brazil late next month and I'll go visit some family in Los Angeles sometime after.

hard to beat the cash back match on Discover and grocery being Q1 it is nice. Too bad they cap it. My short list for 2023: Chase Flex, Chase Preferred (then will be 5/24), Bilt, and maybe Amex Gold

Interested to see how the strategy plays out over the course of the year!

CIP sounds like a great pickup! Not sure if you already got the AMEX Business Gold, but that could be an alternative option with a lower SUB, but with some good MR points and a nice 4X Adverising multiplier. We'll have to see what happens this year! Thanks for sharing Mark!
