My wife and son decided to watch the live action. They hated the lack of Siamese cats.
And for the record we have two Siamese cats.

I mean, I absolutely agree that they had some messed up stuff to rework with the original siamese cats (racist buck teeth, etc) but did it really help anything to change the breed of cat altogether? The siamese cats were very iconic, and now they just look like some generic striped cats.

Bad move Disney, could’ve just kept them as Siamese cats and kept the song, just without the racist accents

I am Asian, I thought the original song was funny and slaps tbh. I didn’t knew they were it based of asian people until people point it out. I didnt see any racism bc I thought it was cats being cats lol

I'm disappointed that they changed the cat breed, I didn't know there existed a remake until now and would have liked to see it with siam cats...

In 1955 it voiced by females but in 2019 it voiced by males

Would it be considered racist if the cats were Norwegian Forest Cats, named Nor and Way, spoke with a Scandinavian accent, with fiddle and flute music?

I love how Disney tried to fix "accidental racism" in the remake but then replaced it with a song full of racist black stereotypes

1955: feminine siamese cats, singing a cute song while reaking havoc si and am

2019: the cats are now boys, tabbys, and most of the part, NOT SINGING THE SONG WHILE REAKING HAVOC

If Disney remade the Siamese cats to resemble the true breed, removed the obvious buck teeth and strange eyes, that original scene would not be so offensive. Coupled with the cats drawings, The original song is racially offensive due to the pig- English accent. Delete both elements & Disney still has great catchy song. Most of dogs in original had accents but NOT in racist offensive way.
