Repair stucco styrofoam molds.
Texture failing off on styrofoam.
Note, folks, make sure you apply a bonding agent on the foam and use the right sand.
There are three finishing grains of sand, fine, medium, and heavy. Usually, all styrofoam molds have some kind of finish.
Why is styrofoam mold so fragile?
They are made of styrofoam, thus more for looks than actual strength. Most of these stucco molds are wrapped with fiberglass mesh, then a coat of La Habra’s Poly Bond is sprayed over the fiberglass to add cementitious strength.
Or Poly Bond is mixed in a slurry at the factory and painted on with a paintbrush.
Both methods make these styrofoam molds tougher than they look.
What is Poly Bond? It’s a cementitious adhesive cement that, when mixed and slaked, can be applied over raw styrofoam to give it much more strength but, more importantly, make sure the surface can accept a stucco finish.
Poly Bond is also used to attach the foam mold to the stucco walls.
Poly Bond has other purposes, but for the sake of this video, that’s enough information.
The styrofoam molds finish can often be damaged by hitting them with lawnmowers or garbage cans.
Other times dogs just love to chew on this stuff. Why? Who knows.
Jason and I are showing how easy it is to repair your own damaged styrofoam molds.
