My classroom is not the newest, cleanest, or most decorated. Yet, it runs pretty smoothly for a self-contained room. My K-2 students understand my rules and routines in order to make the day successful!

I’m crying. I am going to be teaching students with Autism in a self contained class and been looking everywhere for ideas or to even see what teachers do in their class (for self contained and not gen Ed) and I FOUND YOU. I’m so happy. You have no idea how much I appreciate you making this video <333

Glad to see a video about what is going on in the room rather than focusing on the cute decorations😀

My professor assigned us this video to watch because schools are not open for observations because of covid and this was really helpful. I learned a lot! I think I am starting to consider being a SPED teacher. Thank you!

As a mom of a special needs child I can attest that teachers are heroes!! With all the therapy, psychiatrist, psychologist and behavioral specialist it is teachers who give me hope in humanity. Supporting our children is supporting the entire family. Also, eventhough inclusion is the goal and most parents fear their kids being separated from their peers- a self-contained classroom has benefited my son tremendously. Observable progress after stalling in general education years before. Teachers like this are gifts to society!

Your classroom is beautiful. I love the simplicity, not being so overwhelmingly cluttered. I’m sure the children appreciate that.

I literally just found your channel today. I am a man and I am new to the profession of Special Education teacher. I was literally thrown into it. I originally started as a substitute but the teacher I was supposed to be under quit within months of me starting and I was left the classroom with no experience in the field at all. It’s my second school year, last year I had 5th and 6th this year this year I have 1st grade. It’s been so hard because I’m literally learning everything on the fly while still in school to get my teacher certification. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas with us. It’s been so overwhelming for me because sometimes I don’t feel like I know what I’m doing. Just watching your channel has given me so much inspiration. Thank you so much.

I'm in a master's program for special education and your channel has BY FAR been the most helpful and informative to me! I literally cannot describe how much I appreciate you lol. So helpful, clear, articulate, solid tips and focusing on the real stuff.

WOW it is so rare for a newbie to go from "desks and chairs" to your level of success and functionality. The field just bleeds personnel. You are a breath of fresh air! So nice not seeing an educator floundering, kicked down, and burned out. You should be an instructional/behavior coach one day!

I am a special education student and I am in high school and sometimes I wish we had a calming space in our classroom like you have created. I do not have autism but cerebral palsy and a couple other disabilities and my dream is to become a special education teacher in the future and I just love your channel it inspires me

As a Special Ed. Teacher, I can relate to the amount of effort you have put in to get to such a level. I really wish more educators would understand how hard we have to work for the learners to be comfortable and accommodated. I applaud you

I can’t wait until I’m certified ! Although I’m going at a slower rate, I’m getting closer and closer each day.

As a retired special educator, -- WOW you are awesome -- great explanations -- also loved your comment about when you started -- i also had nothing -- I had to share my room! My favorite saying was "They didn't teach about that in teacher school".... you learn by the baptism of fire!!

I change something in my classroom every day. I have 10 students, 9 of which are in my classroom probably 80% of the day. I have no idea how teachers do it when you have such a full classroom. We can't have nice things in my classroom, lol. I started out this year with a cozy calm down corner and reading nook, but I have some kiddos that love to destroy things, tear things down, climb on things, throw things. I'm always so impressed when I see other classroom tours and see that some MSD teachers can actually have things out.

I'm studying to be a special education teacher. I LOVE the stamp/rewards system. Such a good idea to give them choices on their incentive. I especially love that every student gets a choice on an incentive even if a student didn't have the best day. I'm in a classroom management class and I need to create a classroom management plan. I am definitely adding your rewards system. I also love the dividers. I got so many great ideas from this video. Thank you.
