Gojira Makes Heavy Metal History at The Olympics

Gojira performs at the opening ceremony at the summer Olympics in Paris, France. Gojira is the first heavy metal band to ever perform at The Olympics.

They played a song about beheading from the French revolution. The building they were on was the actual building Marie Antoinette was imprisoned in *before she was beheaded* when they ended the monarchy in France.

The special effects with all the blood looking while they literally sing "it will be alright, just behead them" in front of all the worlds leaders.

This is one of the most epic performances in history. It is as metal as Ozzy biting a bats head off.

Fun fact, opera singer Marina Viotti who sang alongside Gojira was also a heavy metal vocalist in her younger ages

Literally had tears in my eyes watching them. Not only does Gojira deserve the recognition, they put heavy metal on the world's stage. I couldn't think of a better way to do it.

As a French metalhead living in the Southwest of France, where Gojira members are from, I don't have the words to describe how I felt watching their performance on TV. Mario being the beast he is behind the drum kit. Joe giving the world that warrior face as he crushes those strings with heavy palm muting. The whole band delivering that unique Gojira wall of sound. Everything blended perfectly together with the female opera singer, the flames and the symbols of Paris history and architecture. I was literally brought to tears. Those guys made metal history yesterday. I feel so proud.

I'm just so happy for Gojira that they had this opportunity to have many more new fans discover their music. They really are a very special band, they deserve to by known by a larger audience around the world. I hope they now become as famous worldwide as Metallica is.
