Some people hear are saying the chair was on its own circuit and although that might be true, just the fact that he thought it was them testing the electric chair is all that counts here.

This was not the testing of the chair. The Interview was done the evening before his execution. The chair in Florida runs on the emergency generator of the prison. What they did was switching from the everyday system to the emergency generator. That is what was causing the dimming of the lights.

Ted was petrified when he did the "long walk" to the chair. His knees were buckling, voice quavering and needed much assistance during his walk to ole sparky .

I'm not so sure that's why the lights dimmed. Florida's electric chair operated off it's own generator...did not use the building's generator. Indiana's electric chair, however, did draw it's power from prison generator, so lights would dim in a situation like that.

That's crazy. Not glorifying him whatsoever but I can't imagine experiencing that happen, sitting in Bundy's seat. He was dead not even twelve hours later at seven in the morning. Seeing them dim like that would have made me absolutely loose it. I came to the conclusion that, any one of us, if in that position, would already be resigned and submitted to the fact that there was going to be absolutely no way out of it. That's the only reason I can think of for him being so calm and composed. And maybe Valium lol. I also think that Ted was holding onto hopes, however dismal and hopeless, for another stay of execution. He knew Dobson was extremely close with the governor of Florida and just one phone call to the gov by Dobson could have potentially achieved a stay. In the end, Ted played himself. Dobson was never going to call for Bundy and just wanted that final interview. It's also why Bundy picked Dobson instead of the hundreds of others wanting to get that last interview, which is ironicalconsidering Bundy had an angle here too, yet, should have known then and there, he wasn't getting any help from the outside concerning a stay of ex.
