The problem with gentrification is that African Americans get priced out and there is no place to go. African Americans who have been in these communities for years. It is truly unfortunate African American Businesses and Residents cannot stay where they have built.

I clicked on this thinking it would actually be about a chocolate factory...

DC now has two bedroom houses going for over one million dollars. People want to move into your community and then push you out of it. I’m 19 and don’t even recognize the city I am from. Luxury condos are popping up all across the city.

Why are Wyoming, Iowa, Maine, the Dakotas, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Idaho some of the most peaceful states in this country? Look at the racial demographics. Case closed.

Gentrification is not necessarily bad for homeowners who sell their home for a lucrative price.

What's wrong with the city diversifying? Why are they complaining about other people and cultures moving in? This is incredibly racist. SMH

In New Zealand we have a chocolate bar called the Pinky. Chocolate on the outside and pink marshmallow on the inside.
Pinky City or even Caucasian City still doesn't sound as good as Chocolate City.
We have a furniture and appliance store called Smith City which could be an option.

WTH, how is that nickname not racist?

Nope, nope and nope. This story is not about the influx of more affluent citizens, but how the African American community failed to build strong academic programs and sustained them. There was an increasing surge of drug abuse and demoralization of its citizenry. A sustained upsurge in violence undermined the quality of life in many neighborhoods. And African migration to the suburbs in favor of homeownership elsewhere cemented these changes. And there is little discussion of the waning religious leadership in the city on the civic well-being of the city. African Americans let roots die and could not anchor in.

Why does the name "Chocolate City" sound like the most racist thing I've heard in a while... 🤣

Well, it's no wonder there's so much crime in that city. I'll stick with the vanilla cities.

Chocolate City is good? But Atlanta Braves, Eskimio Pie, and Aunt Jemima must go? This is racism double standards at it's best...
