The commodification of food is a capitalistic scheme that fails the very abject poor we're trying to serve. Look at alternatives such as Buddhist and Sikh Temples where food is a collective endeavour and a reason to gather the community under one roof and share in the responsibilities and benefits of enjoying food!!! This is the definition of community - and it, the food, MUST NOT be commodified, but given freely out of AGAPE Love of the Benevolent Creator of all the food and resources that we are called to be stewards of! We do not own anything forever, except that we borrow the resources to cultivate the land from the Creator, so that we may, in turn, do our part to help create abundance and healthy nourishment for all, and share/care - most especially with our most vulnerable peoples - the young, the old, the widowed, the poor, and those of us with special health challenges!
