No, do not do flooring yourself. It sucks and hurts your back and knees. Painting walls white, updating the plugs and switches to a simple but white color will make your home feel so new.

Even painting the kitchen cabinets will make your kitchen feel new until you can afford a bigger renovation.

I am really enjoying watching as you all get cozy in your new home and all the new experiances you will have. So Excited for you all. Things may not be exactly as you want right now but living in the space "as is" for a while so you have a real feel for the place and the changes you want to make might give you more of a chance to plan out exactly what you need and how you will use the space before making permanent and expensive decisions. I know when I moved in to my new place I had so many ideas about how to make it feel like "me" but Im glad I waited because I eneded up useing the space entirely differently then what I originally thought. I hope even though you will be very busy for a while that you all get a chance to rest when you need to and enjoy this season together. Thanks for sharing your new adventure with us!

I think you could give a kitchen a huge refresh just by replacing the countertops with something more neutral and maybe changing the cabinet door knobs :)

Love the new house!! One way I found to make our space feel like ours when we moved into our home was change the light fixtures. I think it was about $1000 to tackle all the room lighting and it helped so much since we had to wait another two years to start renovations.

Hi Renee! Happy Vlogmas....the upper switch in your bathroom probably controls the fan/ heater power upstairs. Try to listen for it by turning on the heat or air & adjusting the thermostat. Also, go to home depot & pick up home defense or some type of pest control solution, kid & pet friendly for inside and around the exterior of your home. Don't forget to clean the vents & buy new filters for your heat & air system!!🥰

If you have some land you’re going to have critters. My advice is get an outside cat. We had 5 acres and the cats did a great job keeping the mice away. Also homes will forever need work. Don’t burn yourself out trying to get everything done at once. It’s impossible. There’s always going to be something. Just enjoy the process and take it one thing at a time.

Renee, I had to laugh about the coffee situation! That was us a few years ago when we moved into our house. First thing I did was set up the K-cup machine with k-cups, creamer, mugs...that was the only thing in our house for awhile until the movers got there! Flooring? I'd go with wood floors. We had total carpet in our old house, and it was nightmare trying to keep it clean. Especially if you are thinking of getting pets!! Our new house (well, its 100 years old) is total wood, except for the bedrooms. It's soooo much easier to clean and just feels fresher! So glad you are doing vlogmas!!!

I'm so happy for you, Renee! Don't overwhelm yourself, take your time and do room by room. I would paint the kitchen cabinets and stick with it for a while, a new colour makes it as good as new.
It makes more sense to buy a new kitchen when you've lived there at least for a year because if this is your forever home, you better not rush buying furniture that you're keeping long term.
Really looking forward to see what you and Zander are doing with the house. You seem so much happier already. Take care ❤
