Stop Water Coming In Along A Pipe Through A Basement Wall

Показать описание
When a pipe penetrates through a basement wall from the exterior, it's not unusual for water to enter to the interior if the gas line or sewer line or other pipe wasn't sealed well. This is especially true if excess water from overflowing gutters or poorly graded soil gathers and creates hydrostatic pressure against the foundation. In this video I'll investigate and repair a basement wall where water enters the interior alongside a gas pipe. While it is also important to check the gutters, the slope of the ground and any other related factors outside, I'll show how to dig down and make a repair from the exterior of the foundation wall. This is something a DIY homeowner can certainly tackle on their own.

Great video! I like the way you handled this repair. Very professional. God bless 🙏

Great video! Although I would advise against backfilling with stone around the gas pipe. The service pipe appears to be Coated steel but the stone could cause damage to the coating, which would corrode the bare steel if exposed to water.

You should rubber spray around it after it drys too!
Cheap, and simple

This was extremely helpful. I have the same problem around my water main. The silicone caulk that was around it on the inside gave out. I’ve recaulked with silicone on the inside. How important is it to seal the outside?

I have the same exact problem. Mine is a water line that feeds out to the detached garage. When we have heavy rain water will come through the hole the water line is ran through. My question is should i fill the hole after the repair with hydraulic cement jusg above the water line or use crushed rock?

this fix demo was super helpful thank you!!
who is best to call for repair if i decide not to DIY this problem? the depth of my main water line coming in is about 4-5 feet, little more than i want to dig out myself. is this a fonda toon repair issue or would a plumber handle it?

This is great! Thank you. What type of caulk did you use on the interior around the pipe? Do you recommend something in particular?

1 that gas meter should be moved outside, the line coming in has no sleeve around it and could corrode due to the concrete it's running through. I would contact the local gas company and ask for the meter and vent to be moved outside.

why was the block below where you were vacuuming flexing underneath the pipe @11:13 that's not a good sign.

Hi. Great video! Can I skip the anti hydro? Or do you have any Home Depot product that you could recommend instead of anti hydro? Not finding it locally.

Did you try to fix the pitch of the dirt to direct water away from the house?
