As a electrician who has installed 8.63 million zip ties in cable tray i approve this message. Pro tip, Thomas and Betts zip ties are the strongest ever, they don't break while tightening them with pliers in -10 degrees

Buddy “hey man, grab me a zip tie!”
Me *throws entire bag of black zip ties at them*

White zip-ties are for inside enclosures, not to be left in the sun or exposed to elements because they turn brittle.

Panduit brand are the best…even “the white ones”. There are different materials and locking tabs for different applications. Also, they have a pull rating when being set and Panduit makes a tool for that too. A lot zip tie failures come from pulling the pig tail too hard.

The white ones break way easier but if you need to get them really really tight I soak them in very hot water for 20 min so they’re flexible and not brittle. Works great if you do hvac and tighten them with a zip tie tensioner tool

I remember once I use zip ties to hold up the gas tank on my el Camino. Every time I slid under there I was afraid it was gonna just fall on me 😂

I love mechanic channels like Just Rolled In where mechanics send WTF videos about bad customer jobs.
Whole lotta zip tie clips.

I use mechanics wire, doubled or tripled if necessary, and re-usable. I only use black zip ties for under hood, and I use white (or light) tires under car for easy location at a later date. Also, I twist test the first one out of the bag with pliers to check quality of plastic.

I used to make zip ties for Boeing aircraft. They are made with nylon 6 or nylon 6/6, no exceptions. Natural (white) doesn't have UV stabilizer added as black does. Boiling them for 10 minutes makes them more limber and stronger. Or any nylon part for that matter. Aviation nylon zip ties are packed in sealed bags with a splash of water. These ties hold miles of cable and are expected to last 20 years. Sunlight and dry heat will shorten their life.

How bout ya say, "hand me 5 zip ties?" If I'm dealing with a woman, I over-prepare. I expect a man to know and say what he needs.

White with the metallic lock are the best, they use them for hand cuffs. They are the BEST !

I use the white ones to close up trash bags.
Black ones for wiring and cosmetic stuffs.😁

this reminds me of when I didn't have to pay a subscription to watch Motor Trend. that moment was the moment MT died in my eyes.

Bring the whole bag if it's anywhere below freezing. I've had many snap before even synching up.

I once had 1 caliper bracket bolt back out and left. Caliper was rubbing on the wheel. I zip tied it through the mounting hole. 1 bolt was doing most of the holding, while the ziptie on the other end was keeping the caliper from moving.

It's the sunlight that kills the white zip ties the uv rays breakdown the white plastic really quick for some reason

So. No. White and black have virtually the same strength however the black ty raps are rated for higher UV/weather. White for indoors black for outdoors.
