Ingredients (For 4 Servings)

Beef Marinade

- 800g thinly sliced Beef (I get Lean Topside Beef)
- 20ml Dark Soy Sauce
- 20ml Light Soy Sauce
- 2 Tsp Black Pepper
- 2 Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tsp Baking Soda (Makes the beef so tender!)
- 25g Cornflour/Cornstarch
- 3 Tsp Olive Oil
- 20g Light Butter (For Cooking)
Mix till well coated and combined. This process is called velveting and tenderizes the beef

Black Pepper Sauce

- 200ml Beef Broth (You can use any of your choice)
- 20ml Dark Soy Sauce
- 30ml Light Soy Sauce
- 25g Hoisin Sauce (Brand: Blue Dragon)
- 20ml Soy ice Vinegar
- 1 Tsp Black Pepper
- 10g Cornflour/Cornstarch
Mix till completely smooth and combined

Garlic Fried Rice

- 20g Light Butter
- 50g Chopped Garlic
- 540g Cooked Leftover Rice (Basmati or Jasmine)
- 20ml Light Soy Sauce
- 1 Tsp Red Pepper Flakes to garnish

Important Cooking Notes

- The process of marinating the beef in this way is called “velvetting” and it tenderises the beef and makes it crispy when cooking
- Add a little butter to the pan before cooking the beef. Cook on high heat for 1-2 mins each side till golden brown then set aside
- After adding the sauce in the pan, let it cook for a few mins till it thickens. Make sure all the beef is coated in the sauce
- For the garlic fried rice, cook the garlic in butter for a few mins till slightly golden and crisp then add the leftover rice
- To reheat this meal, simply place in a microwave for 3-4 mins or heat in a pan on low heat

Come across this channel last week, I have been eating unhealthy for 20+ years and have a bad belly which is getting out of control.

I have ordered some weights and exercise equipment which will arrive today, just come back of a weekend holiday, went shopping this morning and I'm ready to cook this dish later on.

Cooked this for my husband and we really enjoyed it. I'd say the salt was too much for me from the soy so I added some water to the mixture. Probably next time I'll use the less salt soy sauce

great recipe but I worked in a chinese restaurant and they always put the meat in baking soda for a few minutes then rinsed it off and then put it in the marinate for a while. i never saw them leave the baking soda in. i guess ill have to try it. i suppose it would increase the mallard reaction due to the changed ph
