I bought a $47 '2TB' EXTERNAL SSD from WISH...the scam still continues - DO NOT BUY THIS!

PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS "2TB EXTERNAL SSD" FROM WISH (or any other website - if it's JUST an enclosure then ok, but if it claims it's anything more than 32GB - it's likely a scam and will look like what I show in the video)
I buy these so then you do not have to. Don't buy ANYTHING from Wish if you actually plan on using it!
ESPECIALLY Data Storage. You don't want your valued data lost on something generic like this, never cheap out on Data Storage.
Sadly there are several misleading ads for this on Wish and other sites.
I hope I save people from buying this thing.

Welcome to iWish - a series in which I buy something off Wish and see if it's any good and 99.99999% of the time it's garbage and after buying an 8TB External SSD/HDD/Whatever it was from Wish months ago and that becoming my most viewed video on my channel, I thought this time around being 6 months later, let's go with an ACTUAL SSD and see what we get.

Browsing through several listings of the exact same product, I found the one shown and bought it for $47 AUD. It came 12 days later and I couldn't wait to rip it apart.

Is it too good to be true? Of course it is. I bought a second one that's got decent reviews from WISH and that will be the next video to see if it's the same or different.

Be good people!

*Jump to 7:26 for the reveal

One of the shortest videos I have made in a while, which is good.
But I hope with this video I can provide some entertainment as well as awareness of these scams going on with Wish and other websites. Please do not purchase these generic "2TB External SSDs". Please go with a reputable brand name, never cheap out on Data Storage.

Thanks everyone, be good people!

16 GB flash drive disguised as 32 GB flash drive inside a hot-glued-together enclosure sold as 2TB SSD... that's no regular scam, it's scamception.

"Haven't used yet, looks great. 5 stars" - classic Wish reviews 😁

As soon as the "red goes faster" line, I knew that this man is a true professional.

The "wonderful" thing (what scammers exploits) that most people just try it with some few/short file(s) and "keep it for later use". And for sure, till that, they're happy to pay a little only, and give positive feedback. By the time they really need it, it's already too late to complain.

I ordered 2 on Amazon. Saw your video a few hours later. Just canceled order. You saved me 90 bucks. Thank you! Now an eternal

I got one similar to this a few years ago. I tested it with large files and it turned out that there was some kind of hack that I don't understand that allows to rewrite the files over the already occupied space, most likely to simulate the larger capacity. When the storage capacity limit was reached, the stored files started to become corrupt as a result of being written over. Having a 32Gb scam is one thing, but corrupted files are another. Those can be dangerous to the unaware.

I bought one of these on Aliexpress, YouTube recommended your video just two days ago, after I've already bought it. Today the package arrived and I'm testing it right now, Chip Genius reports USB 2.0 and 1 GB chip. I've also disassembled it, but it's not a usb flash drive. Thanks for the video, it provided the information that I need to test the drive and produce evidence to ask for a refund.

Many years ago before I learned to build my own, I bought a computer system from a retail builder shop, I requested a 1GB drive (yes, a long time ago!). I got it home, fired it up and soon discovered they had given me a 'doublespaced' 500MB drive. When I went back and confronted them, they claimed it was simply an accident. No, the accident was that I discovered it.

Got a similar drive on aliexpress, was supposed to be 512 GB, but was an 8GB microsd card in a reader hot glued into an almost identical case. Luckily for me it was a new customer deal and only cost me just over £1. Didn't expect anything better, but atleast I got a card reader out of it if nothing else.

Nice job on this video. It's sad to see that this is happening at all. It's topo bad that the items are not sold for what they are.

Okay, i knew beforehand that this was gonna be crap.
But jeez, i lost it when you pulled it apart and revealed a USB-Stick literally hot-glued in place with an adapter.

4:45 480 Mbps - That's USB 2.0 speed and should have been an immediate red flag.

Glad you are feeling better and continue to make your videos. I try to watch as many as I can. No self harm and seek help if you need is a very good message to spread.

Similar item on Amazon. I bought a 1TB USB flash for $40. It actually failed after a few hours! Returned and got my money back. Paid $90 and got a 1TB SSD by SiliconPower. No issues!

Sometime last year my step-dad was excited to tell me he had bought a 2TB USB drive from Wish. I was like.. "Ugh... No... No you haven't" lol, it turned out to be 8gb.

I don't know how Wish is still a vendor. The amount of shit that gets sold on there is unbelievable. You mention 'Wish' to someone and everyone knows now to avoid it. I don't know anyone that has received what they thought they bought!

Thanks for the video, I'm sure it will help a lot of people ☺️
