This video shows a typical early intervention speech therapy session with me, Kayla Chalko. In this video, I show how to do speech therapy with toddlers at home. I coach the parent on how to help her late talker learn new words and play skills. This little boy is 15 months old and learns very quickly. These are clips from his first one-hour session.

"Sometimes when language is behind, other skills are ahead."

So true. That's what I see on my son.

I liked this video simply because you were so transparent about how little a toddlers attention span is, so many YouTube videos make it seem as though something is wrong if you can’t sit your toddler down for an hour a day reading and learning. I like many FTM get sucked into these unrealistic expectations of what it should be, when in reality they edited out all the times the child lost interest. It took me a while to get out of that train of thought and use common sense and realize that I have a toddler and toddlers can’t and won’t sit still to look at flash cards for an hour.

My 4 year old is Autistic and started speech at 3 he got diagnosed at 2 so a few months later his third birthday came he was able to start therapy with the insurance my husband's job provided. Anyway it's worked wonders! His therapist is the sweetest and I truly appreciate the work it's been so great that we were able to start at an early age.

I have a 3 years old nephew. He has speech delay and starts living with our family (my mom and dad) when he was 2 years old. i have opportunity to do activities just like what the therapist did and he can speak now! It just takes some times and works. Never give up if your child cant speak and never neglect if your child is "not like other child". It is better to take early action.

I am a developmental specialist with a county board of DD in Ohio, who does home visits from birth to three and connect the parents with what they saw in therapy and how to do it in the home. I really appreciate your videos as I have just found them very helpful .

That was amazing to watch. You get to understand how to interpret motions, words, actions..You are very talented for this sort of job if I expressed myself correctly.

Such a brilliant video, thank you. I am completely overwhelmed and honestly very depressed by the fact that my child just says one word at 19 months. I will try these tips. Bless you!

This is a really helpful video, thank you. I've incorporated some of the things I wasn't already doing into the way I play with my children and I think it's been helping.

I felt overwhelmed. Lot of parents read books to their infants to help their speaking. My son eats books, he would imitate from song or play but he just wouldn't let me read nor he sits to read with me. I guess my kid can learn only through games and songs. I am going to try this . Thank you

I really liked this lesson in trying to get him to talk. We have a 33 month old great-grandson who has autism and does not talk at all and this really gives me some good ideas I can try to use to get him talking. Thank you for making this video.

Thank you so much for making this video. We have been going through the evaluation and approval process to begin speech therapy for my two year old step daughter. I am always looking for fun and productive ways to help her learn. Thank you for sharing this video.
