I used this power measuring tool to see what was the most powerful strike in all of Martial Arts!

If you're interested in a Powerkube of your own, tell them I sent you for 10% off!

"Hey Jamie, pull up that kick again. I gotta see how Sensei Seth did that." Joe Rogan

That last roundhouse was also the only kick where your partner wasn’t pulling the bag backwards as your leg made contact. Rogan kicked against a static wall. The slight movement allowed by the hanging bag can either make your hit stronger or weaker than it actually was.

The fact that the weakest shots are the ones that end a lot of fights tells a bit of a story too.

@SenseiSeth, you would get better data from the device if you didn’t mount it to a soft squishy target. Joe Rogan had it mounted to a solid frame so that all of his power registers on the accelerometer device in the cube. That’s why the axe kick is so strong. Cube was on the floor.

Seth: Mine is the most powerful round house kick
Buakaw: hold my banana tree

You've got to anchor the sensor better. You're bleeding force off all your numbers.

You also need to try to land with the smallest impact area possible to concentrate the force. The reason that one axe kick was way higher than the others is because the impact point was the heel instead of the flat of the foot. (Same reason you had so much variance in the spinning rear kick.)

On the roundhouse, you were bleeding force by not having it anchored and by hitting with the meatier upper shin instead of the foot. I think you could hit more.

Sensei Seth making sure to use his Powerkube to make up for the 2000 dollar cost. I respect it, great investment.

Certain strikes will have the most force (F= Mass x Accel) but surface area isn’t taken into account in the test. An elbow or a punch has a lot less surface area hitting a target. Do a pressure equation (P= Force / area) and see what applies the most pressure

I would love to see these all measured with a rigid mount. As many people other people have already noted, the way you measured techniques not hitting a lying target involved a fair bit of give so that may well have impacted the results in unforseen ways (e.g., causing side kick to transfer force at a bad angle or the spinning techniques to glance off slightly). It also would be really cool to see a colab with a couple channels to try and get more aggregate results, since different people favour different techniques. That said, still super cool to see all these measurements and definitely gives an interesting perspective to some underutilised techniques!

You may be at a disadvantage to Rogan’s kick because he seemed to have a rigid support behind the cube while you have a bag. That’s going to absorb some of the momentum and may affect the measurement?

That comment you made att precise 10:00 mark about "Pulling" with your standing foot...

I´ve never realised that before, so I emphazied it even more..That made my kicks instantly harder..Thanks a Bunch!🥰

The other thing I noticed about the roundhouse in this, is that joe is kicking horizontally, and Seth is kicking slightly upwards, going against gravity and the guy holding the bag is holding the bag up more so Seth has to raise up to hit it.

Sometimes strikes were onto a soft dummy, sometimes bag and sometimes ground. A bit more consistency would be nice

Also, the double fist is super common in old black and white cowboy movies. It’s the “fight ender” that finally knocks guys out when it’s delivered to the back of their heads. Kinda cool to see that it’s a powerful ground and pound strike. Not that MMA guys would hit the back of their opponents heads with it tho.

I have to say thank you, I'm trying to write a story about street fighting and delinquent gangs, and finding your channel has really helped me to understand some martial arts better

"Hey, I think I can take his record"

This experiment was done a few years back (Muay Thai Vs Karate Vs Taekwondo Vs Capoera) and the most powerful kick was a Capoera kick. If my memory serves me, it utilizes a greater percentage of body weight and slightly more momentum than the roundhouse. The video is on YouTube somewhere

Was honestly half-expecting Seth to try the martello de negativa.
